The issue I have is the fact that the only reason these white rappers are successful is because they have pop radio's backing!!! This isn't 2004 when everyone got a chance. Radio is purposely playing Iggy & other white rappers, but don't play Ross, or Ty $. There's so many artist that songs are sooo popular within the black/hip hop community, but pop radio won't support them, I think it's purposely. If Iggy gets support & slags then Iggy clones will start coming. Same for Macklemore. Then soon it's The Beetles, & Rolling Stones all over again

It is on purpose. My local pop station touches NO black Hip-Hop artists. They barely touched Drunk In Love. Never heard Kendrick played and they only touch Jay if Justin Timberlake is on the song with him.

You can not compare Macklemore to Kendrick. Macklemore won because he was more popular than Kendrick & received pop support. People from other genres are allowed to vote in rap categories. If you're a country singer & don't know much about rap music, & the only rap song you know is Thrift Shop, whose name are you checking on the ballad?

There are nothing wrong with white rappers. If you're going to be authentic like The Beastie Boys & Eminem then you're fine. Most white rappers are overrated & overexposed because of the color of their skin. No matter how good Eminem is he will always be overrated & overhyped, but a lot of people within the hip hop community look past that because he can actually spit. The problem comes when most consumers of hip hop music are white. White people whether consciously or subconsciously prefer artist more relatable to them. If you have an artist doing a "black" genre they'll get picked over the black artist, See: Elvis, Jerry Lewis, Bestie Boys, Vanilla Ice, Eminem, Iggy, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Backstreet Boys (Boys II Men clone), Britney (Janet clone), Adele, Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse, Christina Aguilera. White artist will get put on a platform easier than black artist. This article is spewing lies because if you look at the top rapper out, how many white rappers will be on the list. Trying to rewrite history & it isn't fair.

sis, I don't wanna be mean to you. You're nice, but.... Macklemore won because he was a white rapper singing about gay love. That's the only reason he won. I guess they thought it made him deep or something. His lyrics are horrid.
