!!!!!!!! Especially not for a FIRST and ONLY biopic...when the family has always been kind of opposed to it anyway. If they are going to do one, they'd much rather it be a serious, prestigious director, academy award nominated, what's love to do with it type of amazing movie. Not Flex playing Michael Jackson on VH1
What's wrong? You don't like it?

Edit: In all honesty, the biopic could go ahead without her family's permission or blessings, but I think that's going to leave a lot of people feeling sour. This whole situation has just been messy.

These things are never happening for an Aaliyah movie
Barry, definitely, has lots of going on with ideas on how to make money now, but he did not had anything to do with her tragic death.
I love Aaliyah with all my heart. I have her autograph, she hugged me and smiled at me the whole time I got to spend with her (yeah, about 2 minutes). She was truly something special. There should be a movie, like a real one. The Lifetime flick will be lame and will not do justice to Aaliyah, as she really was at the top of her game back in 2001.
no you stop and go quote someone else! that has been the tea for years where the hell have you been?

This is what people fail to realize, she was at the cusp of breaking into mainstream when she died. Everyone keeps talking about how popular she was after her death, in what world do you live in where someone who doesn't care about an artist all of a sudden buys their music and invest more into that artist dead than alive?...Their have been plenty of artist that have passed who don't get talked about so if she was truly a nonfactor or not a big star like some of you try to portray her as she would have fizzled a couple years after her death not still being talked about 13 years later. Everyone saw her potential that's what made her death as tragic as it was she was talented, had originality, had a distinct look and sound and was a great performer all the things that artist today lack.
Why are people still spreading that false story about Aaliyah and Jay z cmon people let's be real do you think Bey would be tributing someone annually that slept or was in a relationship with her then boyfriend.

The bold is where your post shohld have stopped. As sad as it sounds, her death broke her into the mainstream. If she didn't die, she would have faded big time like every other artists in the 90s that was signed to those horrible labels and had messy contracts.
The only way I see her not fading post 90s is if her acting career took off more and she focused on that until her label situation was settled.

The whole point to that statement is she was on her way to being a big star before she died which is why she had her best 1st week sales with her last album and it was her fasted certified album before her death, mind you she did all of this without a hit(all of her previous album were multi-platinum). Her brand was gearing to take off then suddenly she passed. There is nothing to support your claim of her fading like some of her peers because unlike them her rise was organic and she built a strong LOYAL fan base that would have supported her throughout her career all she was missing was the fickle pop fans but as I previously said all of that would have changed with her last album.

Her last album was not doing that well before her death. She had her highest first week sales, but that album was stalling and none of the singles were doing that great. That album was on course to be her lowest selling. After she died the sales skyrocketed and ended up becoming her best selling album. I don't agree that she would've faded, cuz her movie career was just taking off and her popularity would've most likely grown.

There are pictures of her hugged up with Ginuwine but nobody claims she dated him, she was hugged up with Tim and Missy but no reports of her dating them either, she has pics with DMX, Nas, Eminem, Ja rule, diddy I mean I can go on and on. I don't see how it is so hard to believe they were friends like both have said especially when she seemed like a very nice and sweet person. The girl already has a scandal on her resume no need to fabricate one up.

Her only single at the time was We need A Resolution tho, no other single was out. I think people forget she was only alive a month after her album came out, you cant determine whether it would have flopped based off a month of it being released. The plan was for more than a woman to be the next single but once they heard the feedback Rock da Boat got plans changed. All of her albums were slow burners it's kind of like Rihanna her weekly sales aren't the best but somehow she seems to always make it to platinum, that is how Aaliyah was back then. Anyone that grew up around those times could tell you albums weren't as front loaded as they are now, I'm sure the people who bought her album after her death were fans who would have bought the album anyway later on down the line once promotion would have really kicked in.
