I said "she innovated the use of the whistle register". I know others used it before her, I'm only saying that her use of the whistle register was innovative because she used it in ways no one before her did. She sang runs that started from her lower register all the way up to her whistle register, sang in it for extended periods of time, phrased complete lines in the register when no one before her, at least in mainstream music, could phrase as much in the register, if at all.She also mixed between her whistle and "whisper" register at the same time, which resulted in her trademark breathy whistles that no one else had done before her. Her riffs, runs and improvisation in the register remain unmatched to this day.

And anyway, Mariah remains the better vocalist imo.

Her vocal agility and control over all parts of her huge range, her musicianship, and the fact that she innovated the use of the whistle register+was the first to sing in the "whisper" register make her much more superior. Beyonce is technically skilled of course, but she does not even come close.

You did state though, along with how she innovated the use of it, that she was they first to sing the "whisper" register which I mistook for "whistle" or are those two separate things?

I do agree though that she took whistle registers to a whole new level and pretty much made her name become associated with them, but she was definitely not the first to do it.

Because it's illogical to compare someone who is currently in their vocal prime to someone who has been singing professionally for 24 years, whose golden years are behind them. Anyone with an ounce of common sense and a thinking cap would understand this.

It's pretty much widely-accepted that when you compare 2 vocalists to each other, you compare their primes because one of them may be older than the other and thus their voice would have naturally started to weaken due to aging, among other factors. And Mariah at her prime>>>>>Beyonce at her prime.
