AKMU is drawing much attention, being selected as the only Asian singer placed in “World-Cup Playlist” selected by world-famous travel magazine “Conde Nast Traveler” in celebration of the 2014 Brazil World Cup Games.
“Conde Nast Traveler” recommended eight songs of musicians from different countries, in an article titled “This World Cup Playlist Lets You Travel The World Without Leaving Your Couch” that was written to celebrate the beginning of the World Cup. AKMU’s “200%” is included in the playlist, as the only song of an Asian singer.
“Conde Nast Traveler” is thrwowing a question “Can you ever forget R. Kelly who appeared in the opening ceremony of the 2010 South African World Cup and il divo and Toni Braxton who sang the theme song of the 2006 German World Cup?”, saying, “World Cup, the biggest sports event in the world has been drawing a big attention with impressive theme songs”. Then, the magazine goes on to introduce a collection of songs good for World Cup after explaining why they are disclosing the playlist, saying, “Let us listen to those energetic songs, to celebrate the World Cup watched by all the people from the entire world”.
AKMU has put their name in the playlist along with other musicians from different countries, including Brazilian rock band “OS MUTANTES”, French singer-songwriter “BEN L’ONCLE SOUL”, Argentine band “RAFAGA”, Dutch DJ-***-producer “JUVENTA”, Brazilian female singer-songwriter “IVETE SANGALO”, Mexican guitar duo “RODRICO Y GABRIELA”, and Brazilian singer-songwriter “SEU JORGE”.
Meanwhile, AKMU’s “200%” selected by “Conde Nast Traveler” is a cheerful song with a medium tempo, which talks about a boy who prepared to express his love for his secret love but cannot say anything in front of her. The song’s folk-pop melody and witty rapping well reflect AKMU’s unique wit and charm.
The song has swept the No.1 of on-line music charts upon being released in April this year, and has proven AKMU’s popularity by winning the triple crown in SBS “INKIGAYO” and Mnet’s “M-Countdown” at the same time.
