It seems like they're going for a more campy, absurd overall quality rather than making it at least somewhat realistic. In a sense, yes it's more realistic, based on the emotions and multitasking, but adding things like Obama and Kim Jung-Un and the laughing to death idea and a bunch of these outrageous things that are added in a comical sense makes me feel like it's just one big joke.
Aside from that, I'm still upset that Sims only get 3 traits. It makes them seem very one-dimensional even though they've been talking about how much the Sims are developing and becoming more realistic and human with their emotions & behavior.

I agree totally. Overall it seems like a downgrade from TS3 but I still plan on buying it though

!
The only thing that seems like an upgrade is CaS (minus the removal of CaSt; that alone is stupid) and the general idea of actual emotions added. Everything else seems so... Stupid.
The only thing that's gotten major flack that I'm okay with is the hair. It might seem like a downgrade from TS3 hair, but it's not awful. I like it. Everything else seems so cartoony, though, and it's making nervous for the game.
Okay. Doesn't seem so bad now that I know that. I'm just upset mainly about pools
Are they really not including pools?! I thought that was just a ridiculous rumor.

That's what most players have been wanting from this game... 3 removed a lot of the humor in order to make it more realistic and most people didn't like that, including me. It made it boring for people like me who are more interested in playing the game than making sims or designing houses.
I'm glad that they're going back to their roots with this game with more animated sims and more humor.

@SimsVIP
This is how I see the traits system: pick 3 traits, aspiration gives you bonus trait #4, and completing aspiration gives reward trait #5.
The girl from SimsVIP asked about pools to one of the SimGurus on E3 and he said he couldn't comment on that, so I guess it is coming. Otherwise, they would just deny like they did with CAStyle and those things.

That's because most of their users wanted a TS2-ish look instead of the more realistic TS3, also, in order to make it more accessible for older computers, they had to take down a notch the graphics thus CASt getting removed.

They are making it less serious.
The graphics aren't bad. It was more about the gameplay. It just doesn't appeal to me; sure, I'm here for some campy humor, but the entire game is coming off as some Looney Tunes skit now.

The sims have always been camp, that's what made the series so popular. Making it realistic would remove the charm.
