This! Nintendo isolates its consoles only to its fans. It doesn't take measures to reel new people in.
As of now, I want Smash Bros and the rumored Pokemon Wii U game, but that's honestly it. I'd maybe try out the new Zelda game but I wouldn't buy a Wii U for 3 games, especially at the current price.
With the PS4, hell, even the Xbox One, those at least have a guarantee of there being games I'd actually want to play. Considering how many games are made yearly, there's bound to be games I want. Despite the fact that all the exclusives PS4 aren't all this year, the principle is we know they're coming, some great ones have already been announced, and we've been given a lot of exclusive content on big third-party games as incentive.
The idea of shunning third party developers is completely contradictory to Sony in general. They support indie developers like crazy. They have their quality first party exclusives, but the focus is variety. First-party snobbery is not only annoying, it's just commercially unwise.
