I feel like Sonya is gonna be a costume/2nd iteration for Cassie  I'm fine with JC being gone, but Sonya is so necessary

Im still interested to see how old Cassie Cage is. She's obviously not 25 cuz that'll mean Cage and Sonya did RIGHT after MK9 ended.  Shes probably 21 or 22, unless she's from another timeline and shes 27! 
Take this with a grain of salt, but I think I read somewhere that Kotal could be an Elder God related to Shao Kahn. But honestly, I hope not, I mean "kahn" means "emperor" or something right? That could just be his title, not a hint of them being related.
And my guess would be about what about 10 new and 14 returning. I still remember Ed Boon saying back in 08 that he wanted to wipe the slate clean after Armageddon. Essentially, THIS is the game that was supposed to come after Armageddon, in a sense.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE The Outworld Marketplace, it looks in a sense human, we actually get to see how day to day life is in Outworld( post Shao Kahn). Poor Blanche Deveraux tho.
Biggest SHOCKER to me is still Cassie. Was not expecting that at all. I honestly was expecting a Liu Kang/ Kitana child before this. I remember writing about it back in the Midway forums when Ed announced "the clean slate" thing.

Come to think of second iterations, since IGAU did it, MK might as well. It's a good way to sell dlc, bc everyone will want to play as Sonya. I'm 9000% sure JC and Sonya wont be playable in the main game

10. Kano (old & still a bastard)

13. Mileena

15. Bo' Rai Cho
16. Li Mei
Although I would really appreciate them putting in Kai and finally giving him a proper appearance, I think the list above pretty much fits the storyline that happened and the storyline it seems they're trying to do, and would make the most sense…

Also, somewhere out there in the MK-verse, Shujinko is still looking for the Kamidogus. Kinda breaks my heart honestly.

Girl.. No one dies in Mortal Kombat. How many times do I have to post that in this thread?
Mileena died in MK2, died in MK3, died in MKG, (probably) died in MKD, but still came back for Armageddon.
Sindel died in MK3, came back for MKD.
Liu Kang died as a storyline, but came back as a zombie LOL.
The "dead" characters coming back is VERY likely.

Uh-huh, Mileena and Sindel both died in games where it didn't matter how the story went, while Liu Kang's return was from the overwhelming negative response from fans who wanted him back and thought it was a cheap move to get rid of the main character like that… Now we're at a point where canon actually matters, and I'm willing to bet that over half of the characters that were killed last game won't be showing up again! Ed's been wanting to move on to new characters for the longest…

Girl... the canon has mattered in every game.
Ed has been wanting to move on, but it's a simple "She was resurrected by Quan Chi to serve him" and they're back to life. Ed Boon himself, along with multiple reps from NRS, have said "Nobody really dies in Mortal Kombat"
Don't count the "dead" characters out yet

I know, that site was the shizz back then. I miss CINDER and him dropping hints every now and again.
...BUt youre still wrong tho. I think Ashrah has a good chance of coming back(revamped of course). And Gurl Shinnok as a playable character!?!  Most likely a subboss or the "final" boss before the true boss is revealed.
I do see some of your the characters coming back...as DLC though. 
And I know "no one truly stays dead in MK" but I think this time they may be...at least for a good while. Im still going back to the whole "clean slate" thing. They'll come back one day, and I'll welcome them with open arms.
Its like the chapter in the MK saga is finally coming to a close and a new one is just beginning. It really was a good MK experience.

Be WARNED *SPOILERS AHEAD*
Cassie Cage personality and X-ray
- Looks like Sonya, acts like Johnny and Sonya, with more towards the former
- Has half of her head shaved (like Skrillex or Kesha)
- Chews Bubblegum a lot and apparently uses that in one of her fatalities
- Xray: Apparently she pistol whips you till you fall, and then she stomps on the characters balls (and yes you ACTUALLY see the muscle) or cooch till it explodes
Scorpion Fatality:
- What you saw in the trailer where he burns a hole and you see the heart drop, BUT afterwards he cuts half of the face off and you see half of it fall to the floor. Apparently, then the camera zooms to the face on the floor, and you see the brain coming out and larynx. Not only that, but you actually SEE the mouth of the half-face MOVING as if the character is desperately trying to scream for help! THAT IS BRUTAL! OMFG!
Ferra/Torr Fatality:
- Feraa stabs you in the head and proceeds to go along your back, while Torr rios you in half. Kinda like Shao Kahns MK9 fatality.
Playstyle
- Stamina Meter- So if you run or bachdash, you lose stamina.
- throw combos are in. (So all the people who block beware)
- Kotal Kahn a possible God ( Variations include Sun God, Blood God, and War God possibly)
- Block Button
