It's hard for this song to start smashing in Europe without a proper music video. Radios often wait for it to start spinning the song.

It's not a video and not the airplay. Even with high airplay Birthday is still struggling. In UK Birthday is #3 (!!!) on radio airplay chart and still can't even crack top 20 on iTunes. People just don't like it

Still think that this and Unconditionally are clear indicators that it's time for Katy to get new producers or at least a new sound, if she *has* to stick with the "Dream Team". Better to do it now when she's still scraping hits rather than once she has started properly flopping. If Birthday can't smash I'd be extremely worried about continuing to work with Luke as this is pretty much classic Katy.

Hopefully not faux Hip-Hop Pop. 'Cause that's awful.

Yup! Birthday's been in my Top 3 since the album leaked (That, Legendary Lovers and Double Rainbow like to swap around every few weeks) but if she wants to continue being a successful popstar she needs to dump Luke.

IMO it's hard to have #1 single on sales charts 7 months after album release and after big number-one smash.
