I just listened to Ultraviolence in HQ. With headphones. I swear I believe I've been taken to Heaven for 4:13 minutes Lana, stop being so damn perfect my heart won't cope with the whole album. If I suddenly stop commenting on the listening party chat, please know I died listening to the best music ever.

I think she sang it with more emotion and passion live. The harmonies are to die for though. Her vocals are great I think. It's the piano and lack of any real beat/rhythm or bass that makes the song not a 10/10 for me. Love it though. It's the most BTD song, but it's still very Ultraviolence.

(I bet dan heath's original production was much more BTD).

i've been driving around listening to it all day and i agreed that it was missing that extra "umph" listening to it from my basic computer speakers, but in my car's stereo speakers, the chorus and bridge have that UMPH i wanted and it was like i fell in love all over again. try that out.

Wow! I guess it's sort of like BTD, where Emile sort of oversaw the sound of the record even on songs with other producers than him. So same with ultra? Even if Heath produced U song, it still sounds like auerbach's production.

What about SOC? It really sounds like Auerbach, but I guess I don't know

Yeah if you have weak speakers don't bother disrespecting the song. On awesome speakers or yes in the car it thumps.

Wasn't the album supposedly mostly done before Auerbach came in? So that might be why... some of the songs were left mostly how they were originally done with other people, but then he came in added his touches I guess.

Overall I'm really happy with the production so far... UV is shaping up to be a very cohesive album, but without any redundancy (eg. the same guy yelling in the background, same strings, etc. across BTD)

Yaaaaaaa I'm realizing it's a very dense record. I don't mean that offensively. Ceremonials by Florence is also very dense, dark, moody, and sad, yet it's my favorite album of all time. I feel like Ultraviolence is just obviously not a happy album xD obviously. It's be strange if there was just one happy song in a sea of moody songs.
