I disliked most of the MK9 alts tbh. Especially Jade, Kitana and Mileena's. Mileena's was a poor man's thrift store rip-off of her flawless Deception design (still my favourite to date), and actually so was Kitana's. Jade's was just basic. Again, her maskless Deception attire >>>>>
Deception was just an overall excellent game imo.
I hope and expect every survivor from MK9 to return in the next installment. Though when the people damned in the Neatherrealm are eventually saved, a part of me hopes they'll remain dead anyway and ascend into heaven or something. The rest of me hopes not though because that would effectively erase most of my faves from future games.

When will they get Sheeva, Gorro, and Motoro right? They have been a mess since the 3D games.
----
MK3-Trilogy>>Deadly Alliance > >Deception > MK 9 > the rest>>>>>>MK-A
Armageddon was a big mess. They only good thing about it was its intro video.

Omg, so we're only including main series...
MK: A > MK: D > (U)MK3/T (all the same to me) > MK2 > MK vs. DC > MK: DA > MK4
I've never played the original or MK9 (former because little interest as combos were near non-existent, and that's my favorite thing about MK - the combo system, and the latter because broke bitch problems) so, I didn't rank them. Having watched videos on it, MK9 would probably be in between MK: A and MK: D, and MK1 would be after MK4.

I'm pretty sure I already covered in one post why I love MK: A so much, but that was really the tip of the iceberg. I could write essays on why I love MK: A so much.

Sure it has every fighter ever but there isn't anything special about the game. It is simply a MK A + MK: D smushed into on game. Plus the mechanics were really messy.

MK vs DC was a good game though, not a personal favorite either but good nonetheless.

MK:A was messy from a gameplay aspect but I loved the create your own fatality.
Create a fighter was a nice touch too.

Armageddon's intro was amazing ugh. Loved it.
#justice4LiMei.
Deception's was great as well. The choreography for Raiden's fight against the two sorcerers was on point, and way better than what MK9 and arguably Injustice gave us. I wish we got to see the events before that battle though (i.e. Kitana, Kung Lao, Sonya, Jax and Cage fighting and dying against the tarkartan hordes, and Quan Chi and Shang Tsung respectively in regards to the two former combatants).
Forgot to list my favourite games.
Deception > Shaolin Monks > 9 (oops forgot this one) > Trilogy > Deadly Alliance > the rest.

I think the broken combat system was actually kind of an endearing quality to the game. Constantly trying to find new ways to do broken combos, either with existing characters, or through the just-as-broken Kreate a Kharacter, was a really enjoyable aspect to the game to me.
Also, there were subtle things they did in MK: A that I felt were really needed, like giving more air for many characters' pop-up attacks, and expanding on characters who didn't really have many combos in the last few games (DA/MKD).
I know many people bash the story mode, as broken of a mess that is, is also my favorite story mode of any main-series game. Deception also had a nice story mode, but I just prefer Armageddon's.
MK Racing was also my favorite mini-game to come from any main-series game, and I would not be pressed in the least if they decided to make a MK racing game that expanded on the original idea from MK: A, adding new characters, multiple unlocked abilities, etc. Chess was a close second, but really all that was...was normal fights with slight handicaps/powerups.
Maybe I'm just sitting here with my nostalgia glasses on, but I spent more time on Armageddon than any other MK game simply because I liked it so much. I don't think any other game is ever going to replace that for me.

Yass bitches stan for Deception a bit.
Uggh Konquest was so damn fun, don't care what anybody says but running into ermac in the woods or molach in netherrealm, or Scorpion in some damn hut in earthrealm was such a blast. Nothing like running up to random people and knocking em out with a punch. You basically got like 7 maps, one for each realm. When will the lesser MK games?

I love the racing mini-game as well.
They should bring it back in MK10.

You're not the only one, MK:A had a lot of side stuff going for it so it kept me entertained for hours.
I do think that was the games greatest strength and weakness.
It tacked on so much the gameplay suffered.

I think they should make the control system more like Injustice than MK9
I mean each button different strength hit and not each button - punch, upper punch, kick; upper kick thing

Mess at MKA being your fave. The racing game was cute but the gameplay was the definition of recycled and boring.
MK2 > MKD > MK9 > MK4 > UMK3 > MKvsDC > MKDA > MK1 = MKA
And that's the tea

MKDA had an interesting idea, the concept of multiple styles was nice but the gameplay felt so stiff.

Talk about MK, did anyone else think that Kintaro looks like Goro's gay brother?
