As a HUGE MK fan and having followed the series mythos and storyline since forever(again my favorite being the Kitana/Mileena one), this is one of the BIGGEST reasons I don't like "new" Mileena. Best explained like this:
In the "prior canon", Mileena was raised as Kitana's twin sister and was created to allay suspicions of Kitana's prior life. Mileena was flawed due to the difficulties in creating her. They were originally raised together, with Kitana being the favored child while Mileena grew to hate and despise her sister and her status. It was implied she didn't even know she was a clone until after Kitana found out the truth. It was a great set-up that gave both characters deep history, personal stakes, and created DIMENSIONAL characters out of villains such as Kahn who treated and loved Kitana better than her malformed duplicate.(He would NEVER hurt Kitana since he loved her like his own daughter, but he knew that even she wasn't immune to punishment)
But then...
In the "new canon", Mileena is just "born", having been created because apparently Kahn just didn't like Kitana's attitude.*Kahn, despite having Kitana's full trust, love, and cooperation, sees she's starting to -*gasp* - question her place in the world and do some thinking of her own. And Kahn just won't stand for that.(cuz hes EVIL for the sake of being EVIL). Thus Mileena is introduced in modern day, with the mental maturity of a Rugrat, and none of the tension, past, or personal stakes in the battle that she had before. In prior games, she was actually rather brilliant, deceptive, and cunning. She also had an interesting love/hate relationship with Baraka that wasn't acknwledged in MK9. Particularly Deception, she managed to succeed in taking over one of the most powerful realms in the MK universe, deceiving all of Kitana's people, and effectively becoming a force of power and respect in the MK world, all because she was cunning and deceptive.
Basically she went from this
To this
From a ruthless, dark, cunning badass to a manic, petulant, rather grating adult-child with daddy issues.*

I'm really hoping for some new original characters. I'd love to see what Boon can come up with with the capabilities of the game engine

Please bring back Mavado and have him wear BDSM attire as an outfit. Johnny Cage, Kobra (with a haircut or something) and Reiko could all be rly hawt too

I hated how they made Mileena such a bimbo in the game. In deception she was actually able to fool Edenia into thinking she was Kitana the Princess until the real one showed up. On a rather physical aspect I hated how she went from innocent looking facial features when wearing the veil/mask which made it possible for her to pass off as Kitana to looking like a trainwreck slouching around toad like. And her tarkatan features went to far, she was so damn immature.

Exactly!!!! Its like they took the Tarkatan features from her and ran with it. Seriously, what was the point of giving her eyes like that!?! And yet, theres still going for the "she's Kitanas clone" storyline. Either make them look at least somewhat similar or just give her a new storyline altogether, but don't try to mesh both because all youre giving is utter crap.

Meh, I love Mileena regardless.
Of course, her character was more compelling and dynamic in the original timeline but there's still a chance for her character to develop in MK10, so I'll wait before abandoning her completely.

Mileena was always a pawn until MKD. It's true. Shao Khan used and abused her everytime. She's always being used... until MKD.
IDK why you're bringing up MKD into this when MK9 was a retelling of what happened from MK1-MK3, which Mileena had little to no role in besides being used and abused. She was manipulated, and she didn't hate it. I mean, she wasn't even in MK3 until they made UMK3, where she was literally rebirthed just to die again. A Lana Del Rey mess

YESSS!!! MKD is my 2nd favorite game after MK2.
The costumes, the Konquest, the Krypt >>>
It even made the ***ty 3-D gameplay look good. It literally improved everything MKDA was lacking in.
