Why am I banned from my fave's single thread, Birthday? I have done nothing abusive in that thread

i feel so stupid and weird for actually asking this but ive seen a few threads where someone posts a super-abrasive (obviously they get warned) comment and people reply with smilies such as: and say that they think it's funny or something and they get warned too like why do they get warned? im so confused

It some cases people just quote it with a single dot (.) and it kinda means that you're agreeing with the post.

What's the policy for receiving warning points after you've already deleted the post? I just got a warning point for this:

I actually think it's Mariah. She's very elusive to people born after 1990.

After I realised that that could be perceived as flamebait, I deleted it. I meant it in the most non-flamebait way as well. She's the biggest artist of the 1990s but not many teenagers and young people outside of ATRL are aware that she's one of the most successful artists of all time. As soon as I realised people would see that as flame-bait, I deleted it. When I pressed delete, there was nothing on it. It didn't say "Already Reported." The only reason someone knows I said that is because someone quoted me right after I said it, and others started quoting it even after it was gone.

How is it fair that I get reported for something I deleted like 60 seconds later as soon as I realised I was in the wrong?

It takes a little while to get used to. When I first joined i got a few WP's because I wasn't thinking before I was typing but now I try and word the things I say in the least offensive way (and even then people are still pressed) I get your frustration believe me but your best chance is sending a help request, be polite and explain your case. Don't even talk about it in here. If the Mod agree's with you or can see that you didn't mean it as flamebait - you might get it reversed. Always be respectful and always accept the decision they make.

Now you know ur a fave of mine and I totally agree that you didn't mean it as flamebait but I can see how it was taken as that. You used elusive in the context that a certain generation didn't know who she was. You didn't mean it in the shady way, but can you see how people thought you did?

It's jusy a shame so many people jumped on it. You didn't deserve the WP. I honestly would send a help request, you never know. Give it a go, try explanaing your context.

Yes, which is why I deleted it like a minute after I posted it, but someone already quoted it and then others continued to quote it even though it was gone.

Even if it was shade, which it wasn't, is something like that really worthy of excluding someone for 30 days, just so they can feel like they have the tiniest shred of power on an internet forum about pop stars...

This statement of yours is quite right. Sure some 1990-92 born teenager were aware of her come back in the mid 00's but it wasn't a big thing for them.

Exactly. I was born in 1992 and I was obsessed with 'It's Like That' and 'Shake It Off.' I wasn't really that big on 'We Belong Together' and 'Don't Forget About Us' but I still recognised that they were huge pop songs in 2005.

It wasn't until I started checking Rihanna's receipts online (13 #1s on the Hot 100) that I myself discovered just how huge Mariah Carey's career was/is. And despite having 18 number 1 hits and being the biggest artist of the 1990's, not many young people (outside of ATRL) are aware of just how big Mariah Carey's career is because she's sustained a relatively consistent image throughout her career rather than reinventing herself and being dependant on her image. It's always been about the voice and none of her music videos seem to be as iconic as Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' or Madonna's 'Like a Virgin.' She was never dependant on music videos or reinventing herself, it was often just her on stage in a sexy, black dress, and it was all about her voice. I think that's party why she didn't work out on American Idol because younger people don't really know just how big she (and Janet Jackson for that matter) were in the 90s.
