I have a question regarding posts with images hosted on malware/virus infested sites.
Should we report them? Should we let the poster know about the issue and ask them to edit it? or should we just leave it alone? The reason I ask is because it happens quite often and those that aren't completely aware of how that type of stuff works may automatically assume the warning is from ATRL. For example, when I enter the thread "Austin Mahone won't reach his goal" a pop-up on my computer warns me about a virus on the page because of
this post. Of course, it doesn't actually tell me the post, it just tells me that ther are harmful files on the page and tells me to leave right away. In other instances, when images hosted on blacklisted Google sites, Chrome refuses to let you enter the thread. Now, you can't get any type of virus/malware through embedded images, but it's still an annoyance and like I said, it'll freak people out- especially when people start quoting the picture and it reaches out to multiple pages.
Obviously, I'm not suggesting that these people get warned, because they probably just got it from a random Google search and had absolutely no idea about the site being harmful; which is why I'm not sure if reporting them would be the right thing to do. I wouldn't want to waste a moderators time/effort. I just don't want people (members and guests alike) thinking that ATRL in harmful.
Sorry about the long read. It's something that's been bugging me though and it seems to be happening more frequently.
Edit:
here's an example from earlier of Chrome not letting a user enter a thread.
