It's crazy how badly my TS3 runs if I have a big family in a big/detailed house. I literally can't keep a family of six healthy or happy because they live in one of my best houses. And I don't even have custom content. One person in a small house is a completely different game.

They seem to be from a distance, it's possibly a detail that fades out the further you go, kind of like Sims and trees in TS3.
