Pitchfork's review of Funeral is arguably responsible for Arcade Fire's success. No other publication had reviewed the album before they gave it a 9.7, they had sold no copies of it, and nobody knew who they were. Following the review, the album sold out everywhere and quickly appeared on the year-end lists of every major publication. Now, they're the most-acclaimed and one of the largest independent acts in the world.
Just an example of Pitchfork's influence on a band I love.
