Iggy has said some unfortunate things on Twitter (hell, haven't we all) but she's real and unapologetic about it so..

Most non-Americans sing in with an American inflection, and I don't see the issue with Iggy rapping with one. Her flow and lyrics are good, and she can actually ride a beat without being overshadowed by it, unlike some.

But why should Iggy care about the "urban" community in the first place? You're the first to say they don't "use" her and yet she made it this far, didn't she? I think she'll be fine.

Call her whatever you want but she is taking off because of her hard work and people will just have to deal. Simple as that.

I think the issue is that you have a rapper who is making pop music (with some hip-hop influenced material as well, of course) and so that automatically sparks interest in both the pop community and the urban community thus leading to postive and negative reactions from the both of them.

I personally think that Iggy should focus on pop/pop radio because, as you can see in Eminem's case, they will never abandon you as long as you make good music or have a great person on the hook. It doesn't look like urban is ever going to be happily receive a white rapper ever again.

I disagree. While no one can deny Iggy all her hard work work work work, I don't think it's fair to say that this is the reason why she's taking off.

It definitely helped contribute, obviously. She wouldn't be wear she is today if she just stayed on her parents couch in Sydney and never pursued her dreams. But a lot of people have the opinion (myself included) that it's come down to the production of 'Fancy', the beat, Charli XCX's amazing chorus and the awesome music video. But we're talking about her individual rapping style here.

'Black Widow' will undoubtedly smash. But it will be interesting to see if Iggy can get a smash by herself because I personally don't think she will. I personally think her career is going to come down to be a featured artist and having features give her choruses (which ultimately makes a song).

Work is still her highest selling single in the UK, and it's arguably considered a hit in the US too, even by Billboard so... idk why people keep ignoring that.

Everyone wants to pin Iggy's success on her looks but ignore the fact that she's worked harder then any other female trying to make it. She's been in 7 tours, not to mention putting out a new project every year and all the visuals, etc.

And seems like you just described most/plenty of successful rappers' careers in terms of commercial/mainstream success with that last line so idk why you're worried

I can understand people not enjoying it though, like I said her music isn't for everyone but then again who's music is?
