As an American, you obviously don't see the other side of it. American music is incredibly influential around the world, as is American TV. To the point that many people from countries where English isn't their native language adapt an American accent when speaking English. Is this, too, offensive? How is rapping or singing in an American accent any different, when it is all you've listened to your entire life? I wouldn't be surprised if 90% of all English speaking, non-American musicians sing/rap/whatever in an American accent.
Mick Jagger, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Ed Sheeran, Phil Collins, George Michael, ABBA, et all do.
Nice post. But there's a difference between influence and exploitation. A lot of the Hip-Hop/R&B community thinks Iggy is doing the latter. No need for the paragraph.
One thing I hate is the fact that a lot of people on this forum talk so bad about artist because they're urban. Because a lot of urban artist aren't perched on top of the Hot 100 doesn't mean their opinions are invalid. Since they're actually apart of the community they're in the best position to speak on it. You want to undermine urban artist, but your faves RUSH to recreate watered down urban sounds & call it pop.
