Are you even from the US? If a Russian took a Catalan accent, went to Spain and started singing songs with the accent, you don't think the people of Catalonia would be pressed that someone is taking their accent and trying to market it?

It might seem like nothing to you, but to others it's disrespectful and looks cheap and offensive. K. Michelle will always speak her mind, and just because she does, doesn't mean y'all should drag her for it. Especially since all of y'all sit in Rihanna threads praising her DOWNE for the shade she throws.

As an American, you obviously don't see the other side of it. American music is incredibly influential around the world, as is American TV. To the point that many people from countries where English isn't their native language adapt an American accent when speaking English. Is this, too, offensive? How is rapping or singing in an American accent any different, when it is all you've listened to your entire life? I wouldn't be surprised if 90% of all English speaking, non-American musicians sing/rap/whatever in an American accent.
Mick Jagger, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Ed Sheeran, Phil Collins, George Michael, ABBA, et all do.
