She made her money, promoted her self-love life message, become ultra-famous. Idk what else is left for her to do.  I am happy for the queen. I will buy whatever music she deems worthy for my ears.

Don't get me wrong but some stuff on ARTPOP was great, but for someone whose career up to that point was predicated on being subversive within pop, calling the record 'ARTPOP' and giving us her most complacent record yet was a joke. She needs fear and self-awareness as a kick up the backside to make her ambitious again, just like she was when she was an irrelevant making 'Gagavisions' walking around the place like a bad bitch who already owned the world.

I don't see that happening. She defended BTW vehemently and rightfully so, it's her music and she should stand by it anyway. We don't have to like it, but that's apart of what makes her grow as an artist. I do agree that she shouldn't be defensive, at all. She needs to realize that critics are only doing their jobs. Some of them are cruel, that's how they make their living. I DO hope though that she finds a better direction musically and a way to make the music she wants to make while satisfying us as fans/consumers as well, that's where it counts. Complaining and telling fans that their opinions are wrong and that they're not real fans if they don't love her music is where her missteps would be if she continued down that alley.

I'm so ****ing ready for a Paper gangsta 2.0 , I need some shorts to be fired at her former manager
and I need a heartfelt **** you song sticking it up to all those who have turned their back on her when she needed them the most , I have this feeling that her next album will be really personal

I can give her time to focus on her new album if Cheek To Cheek comes out this year (was looking forward to that more than AP tbh). I just really hope she listens to her team tho. I'm wondering about Troy now.. hmm.. I guess at the end of the day it isn't that big.

I feel that way too, most of her impact is massive. Whether that's faded or not really doesn't matter either. And as long as she makes music that I like I'll still support her. And even if the new music isn't as great, I can always say that I loved her earlier works and still appreciated her as the great artist that she was/is.

She really doesn't actually need to worry about it anymore honestly. From The Fame debut till even now she's done what many have tried and could never do. That's an accomplishment in and of itself. Just release good music for the hell of it and live off your riches pretty much.

It's ARTPOP that's lost me. BTW is a fan-****ing-tastic album, and that's something I've really only just come to realise because of how substandard ARTPOP sounds in comparison.

Do you think Applause was always going to be a big hit, regardless of when it was coming out, or did the timing help it a lot?

Right, but you may feel that way and she probably doesn't. That's why i think it'd be dumb of her to say that it was a musical misstep if she truly believes that it wasn't.

y'all should know that the side effects of being propelled to stardom in an incredible and unusual rate are going to be messy , the rolling effect of being the most famous out there talked about artist in the world , she was bound to be turned against , it's how things are , once you go up you must go down , but we GOT to give it to her for having such a tough skin , I really commend her on sucking up and absorbing all of the negativity that she had thrown at her , she's a trooper

Applause got good call out scores and radio eat it up
and its sold over 3m in the US so i think it was always destined to be a hit

I think it's only at 2.5M in the US.
But yeah, radio helped it. But the GP genuinely seemed to enjoy it. Even at artRAVE, it gets just as much approval from the audience as any of her past hits do.

Hit anyway, maybe with less radio support and, probably, it wouldn't have sold as much but still enough to be a hit.

She hasn't though. That's the annoying thing. You don't suck up negativity by posting rants on twitter about being compared to Katy, you don't always criticise the haters and make asinine comments like 'would you critic a musician if you yourself were not a musician'.
The best retaliation against negativity is to make your haters even madder. She whinged like I never believed she could this era, mainly because in 2010 she wouldn't even respond to or openly acknowledge criticism.

how in the name of god are you going to expect cohesiveness from an album that she was still not decided on which tracks should be on it and which tracks shouldn't , I remember her talking about a lot of songs battling it out to be on ARTPOP not so long before the album came out
