Ok, now that the first listen excitement is gone, i must say this.
This sounds like a great song, radio friendly, and has all the ingredients to be a decent hit in the summer.
But i have a feeling critics will not be satisfied with this.
She's 35 years old. Her sound should start being more mature, and less pop/teenage stuff.
And for the love of god woman, there are a ton more topics and themes to explore with your music other than LOVE
Most of her discography is based on love themed songs. You are a 35 year old woman. You have gone through so many situations in your life. Bulimia, disrespect, doubt.
EXPLORE. Write a damn song that has nothing to do with love. Write a song about LIFE. Write a song about TREES idgaf. Enough with these love songs.

Plus, just because it's the first single and it sounds like a pop song doesn't mean that the album is going to be full pop songs. An album can have lots of influences and sounds.
And she's releasing the song in summer. A song about her issues or a ballad wouldn't work this time of the year. I'm sure her second single will be more urban as the fall approaches.
I think the main reason I'm going on this rant is hearing Nicki Minaj's Pills n Potions. Still a pop song, but those lyrics are the TRUTH. And a great production, not your typical pop-ish songs, with other elements in it.
That is creativity. Which Nicole lacks in my opinion.
If this new album does not serve me with some kind of evolution from Killer Love i am DONE with her. She should not just release music for the sake of it. Where is the artistic evolution? For an artist who has studied music, who is so passionate about the arts, she sure as hell doesn't seem to grow as an artist.
First singles are normally bangers and followed by more personal songs. a la Poison and DHYB(thou its uptempo, its still sentimental)..
But you're right. We'll just wait and see. But Im NOT having this album without Pretty...

From what i've heard in those LQ snippets, Your Love could have easily be included in Killer Love.
If Nicole wants to start being treated and respected as a GREAT ARTIST and not just an entertainer that releases music for the sake of it, she should start being more creative and explore with her sound. There's a great possibility that she'll never reach superstar status. Why not release music that will TOUCH the world? Why not release music that will gather attention? That will get you critical acclaim? That can get you GRAMMYS?
This sounds great and catchy from the snippets, can't wait to hear it in full and see what the video will look like

It's Summer time, and I think a song like this will do well in European markets such as the UK. If handled correctly, that includes promo - this could be a hit for her in Europe.
Obviously if they're intending to put music out in the US, something that sounds completely fresh is needed. That shows off her vocals. But I think her reputation has been damaged in the US after PCD, so I wouldn't bother trying to promote there now. People aren't willing to give her a chance, because they've already made their minds up about her.

I mean, JLO is singing about Big booty and she's 44, so what? Who would care about J's songs about her family if it was a single? They know what can sell and what cannot, those personal songs will be on the album, but people want something to listen to and sing along to during summer. So, Your Love is a great choice. Boomerang was personal too, and we all know what happened to that.

I agree. I think they will also learn what works for her or not and how the public will receive it..
Risks later.. but I do understand Cypriot's point of view..
I think she needs to have personal, emotional ballads on the album too, but the general audience isn't really here for the songs like AmenJena (unfortunately). Just because she's a bit older now doesn't mean she can't sing love/uptempo songs. JLO had her biggest worldwide smash when she was 41. And it was about partying and dancing.
