No they don't With the majority of pop music, people hear a song - they like it because it's catchy and appealing - they download it off iTunes. This happens with very little thought given to the actual artists making the songs.
This is why a lot of non-pop artists have great touring #s - because people care more for the artist and don't just buy cute little songs they heard on the radio.
