Other Chart Notes:
This week, Ellie Goulding earns her first number one on the chart since her debut entry "Lights" in Summer 2012 as "Burn" narrowly edges Canadian duo Tegan and Sara's "Goodbye, Goodbye." The pair need not fear missing the summit, however, as they are still on an upward trend, while Goulding continues a trajectory of decline. This makes "Burn" the first ascendance to number one with a negative bullet since "The Crow, The Owl, and The Dove" by Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish.
Also noteworthy on this week's tally is the chart debut of Luke Bryan, who enters as a featured guest on Florida Georgia Line's "This Is How We Roll." The duo made their debut a year ago as "Cruise" entered (sans Nelly, as the remix had not yet been released). This country superstar collaboration has a good chance of becoming the duo's second top ten and Bryan's first.
Colombian pop star Shakira makes her first entry as a lead artist on the chart since 2011's "Rabiosa (featuring Pitbull)," which peaked at #13. Her collaboration with Rihanna has a chance of becoming her sixth top ten ("Beautiful Liar (with Beyonce)" [#1], "She Wolf" [#1], "Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)" [#1], "Loca (featuring Dizzee Rascal or El Cata)" [#5], and "Give It Up To Me (featuring Lil Wayne)" [#9]).
One more note: Train ties Akon as the artist with the most number twos on the chart, with neither having collected a number one. "Bruises (featuring Ashley Monroe)" joins "Hey, Soul Sister," "If It's Love," and "Drive By." While Akon also has four number twos as well ("Don't Matter," "Sweet Escape (with Gwen Stefani)," "Bartender (with T-Pain)" and "Sexy Bitch"), he also has uncredited vocals on Lady Gaga's debut "Just Dance," which hit number one in late 2008.
