2014 in music has gotten a lot better over the past month

I knew there was something special about this song when I first heard it late last year. It screamed "Smash Summer Hit," and here we go!

Then again, these senses were also telling me that "Do I Wanna Know?" would be a big hit, and it didn't make even a whimper at pop radio.

1. The video was released way too early as a present for Paramore fans before the song was sent to radio.
2. It was a ballad released in the summer.
3. Radio didn't fully support the song.

If you wanna get technical, Lady Antebellum is fronted by both a man and a woman. And "Just A Kiss" debuted top ten in 2011. Though I wouldn't necessarily count them or La Roux.

But even more recently than Evanescence, the Dixie Chicks went to #3 in 2007 with "Not Ready To Make Nice" after winning Album of the Year.

"Call Me When You're Sober" by Evanescence is really the most recent. Besides, Paramore's the only such group that's charted consistently high enough since Evanescence's most recent hit.

As much as I love Halestorm, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and The Pretty Reckless, they haven't ever charted that high.
