Influence isn't measured purely in sales, God Of War has done nothing for the industry.

The two aren't correlated, especially in gaming. Where generic FPS and RPGs sell like hot cakes.
MS had the better online functionality last gen compared to Sony. Which is the whole reason it did so well for the 360 (let's not pretend that the RROD didn't contribute to the sales).
