You can break the US if you have the right material, right image, and have an identity that is completely your own and makes you YOU, special, unique, and a necessity to the market. She's not doing anything new that the US haven't already seen or heard before.

New??? I don't believe she's recycled that's that navy talk. She just hasnt had her hit yet. Period. But she will. It took ellie, jessie j 2 years to breaktrough, and adele. It takes time. But she will. America is not about origin ality. Please. We always late to trends.

You are absolutely right. As far as I am concerned there is nothing wrong with IWNLYD.Her team just have to be more strategic in promoting this.

i honestly think the problem is that this song is a grower. i didnt like it at first, but now i love it. its gonna need a lot of radio airplay for people to grow to love.
plus rita is fine. its just that the us doesnt really know or her personality. she needs to do tv interviews, not just perform. people will fall in love with her personality

If she had done what she's doing in the uk this song would be a hit. Release to radio two weeks before adds. Then we had the zac efron thing where she was praised, fallon performance, then itunes release. All this promo would have sustained the song. Her name isn't big enough here for her stans to prop her a songs up on itunes. Plus radio in america is everything. But next time they'll learn.

I'm not saying she's copying Rihanna, but I will say all the girls with big careers in the US have their own sound and lane. Yes Jessie j had a hit but she's still not a big US name or act. You have to have that lane and image that grabs the masses. You hear a Rihanna song you know it's Rihanna, you hear a B song and you know it's B, a Katy song sounds like Katy. What does a Rita Ora song sound like? She still needs a musical identity.

I don't get you.she is a new artist so it's natural for people not to identify a Rita song. For God sake she hasn't even gotten a worldwide hit, plus IWNLYD doesn't sound like a song by any other pop girl.Give her time.

I can understand the whole 'we don't know who she is' though. But that's why Rita needs to do lots of television interviews and things to show her personality.
I do kind've think that 'I Will Never Let You Down' can take off but the fact that they already released a video for it doesn't help her trying to push it here in the US, which is why i think she should record a new video for it. But i can agree that Rita needs her own sound, IWNLYD is good upbeat dance/love song and idk if anybody could sing it but I think she needs something a little harder. I honestly think the reason why it isn't sticking is because it was released two weeks prior, had a video out already and everything. Had Rita done appearances in the US and etc. before releasing her single, then possibly she could've had herself a little smash. She needed her name out in the US before releasing her song because she's not a huge star like that here.
I use Miley as an example w/ Rita cause before Miley dropped WCS she had a feature with Will and Snoop, was appearing at award shows, she won the Maxim Hot 100 thing, she put her name out there before she dropped a single while Rita kind've just appeared. Rita def should've had her name out before she dropped new music and that might've been a small issue but i have hopes that she'll be fine. She may have to drop another single but she'll be alright.

I think the real reason is that it seems like both Rita and Jessie J are fighting for the same Rihanna scraps! I could see Rita doing Excuse My Rude, Domino, and Do It Like A Man, and I could also see Jessie doing RIP, How We Do, and IWNLYD. Their Whitney-soul-over-pop-beat voices are so similar. It is hard to create an identity with a vocal doppelganger.

Rihanna is on her 8th album. After album 1 sold 69,000 she wasn't RIHANNA. Katy is on her 4th album after I kissed a girl album flopped, she wasnt KATY.B had a girl group where she was groomed for 10 years to be a solo artist. Rita is on her second album, 1st in america. It takes time. Rita by her hustle and marketing has made herself a star, but she's not near any of those girls yet. Be patient. It will happen. Because she is bigger now then those girls of there 1st album.

Miley also was on tv for 8 years. Why are yall comparing Rita to these huge stars. She's new. Compare to another girl who on her 1st album. It will take time. Rita is 23 and making big money. She's got 15 endorsrments and a fashion darling. She'll find her song and dound and be fine.

But honestly Miley's album before that did worse than Rita's first and Miley had to re-invent herself and welcome herself back into the world so that's why I'm comparing. Miley treated 'We Can't Stop' promo like she was a new artist and that's what Rita needs to do, Miley was doing all the radio station interviews she could and was appearing in public before releasing her single.
Rita kind've abruptly dropped the single here and she had a video for it already, it would've been better had she kind've made appearances, done interviews about her 50 Shades of Grey and her new single and then dropped the single but i'm a Rita supporter so I'll be here for whatever happens even if IWNLYD doesnt do good I'll be here till whatever single does cause i want her to win.

Well, we still have Black Widow, huh? That song screams "hey, I'm a hit!"
And well, Facemelt, Roc The Life, R.I.P., Young Single & Sexy, Crazy Girl... you know, that tracks are purely Rita, like Get a Little Closer, Last Love, Out Of Love and Fair/Unfair. Maybe she and her team just made the wrong single choice.
Tracks like IWNLYD or Fall in Love are good, but are not unique, sound dated imo. And she's young, are growing and getting into her second album, she will find her way to the top.
She could do whatever she wants with her voice, she's very versatile, and that's very good.
