Rihanna did kind of jack Britney's urban image and the whole good girl gone bad thing.
Britney was never so rambunctious. Her career was based on a relatively clean, girl-next-door image. Rihanna kinda flopped when she was PG (she wasn't who she is now in terms of status), while Britney became a tabloid victim when her personal life got too deep. They meet in the middle--they're two sides of the same coin, but serve different purposes.
