Claps to 2NE1 but lol @ those polls.
Obviously 2NE1 would win, they have a more internet based fanbase than Spice Girls and Destiny's Child.
[OSEN=선미경 기자] The sibling duo AKDONG MUSICIAN (AKMU) continues to heat up the music world. Since knocking down music charts and lining them up with their songs immediately after the album release, their dominance in the music world continues for almost one month. All three title tracks maintain the top range. So how long will this “AKMU Syndrome” brought on by their debut album last?
On April 7, AKMU unveiled their debut album “PLAY.” LEE CHAN HYUK wrote and composed all the 11 songs, and they are receiving highly positive reviews for carrying AKMU’s original colors.
Immediately after the release, music sites were filled with AKMU’s name. Apart from real-time charts, the siblings knocked down daily and weekly charts as well. Their title track “200%” is still #1 (at 3 pm on May 4) on Mnet, Olleh Music and Genie, while ranking in the top range on Melon and other sites. AKMU once again topped Gaon Digital Charts for the 1st week of May.
Other than their title songs “200%” and “MELTED,” AKMU successfully listed all their songs in the top 10, and also received praises from big stars like Yoon Jong Shin and Yoo Ah In. From just audition program contestants, they became the “national siblings syndrome.”
Their excellent performance is also shown in music programs. Despite the show being cancelled due to Sewol ferry tragedy, AKMU topped M Countdown and SBS’s Inkiagyo for 3 and 2 consecutive weeks respectively. The fact that #1 is determined based on music, SNS and viewer vote scores, it proves that AKMU is loved by a wide range of audience.
악동뮤지션 신드롬, 언제까지 계속될까_2
As a matter of fact, AKMU had garnered much popularity with their original songs since they were contestants on SBS’s survival audition program K-Pop Star Season 2. All the songs with such originality, like “DON’T CROSS YOUR LEGS,” “YOU ARE ATTRACTIVE,” “CRESCENDO,” and even TV commercial jingles topped music charts.
Personnel from YG Entertainment explained, “People in their 20s and 30s find AKMU fresh as the siblings look at mundane topics like love, break ups and other daily life happenings in a unique way. AKMU’s pure and naïve images are well-received.”
They are excelling overseas as well. Right after the album release AKMU topped overseas iTunes’ main album charts in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand, while topping the American Billboard’s World Album Chart on April 26.
AKMU, excelling with “200%” and “MELTED” on music charts and programs, also unveiled the music video of their final title track “GIVE LOVE.” They will continue to carry out their music career. All eyes are on the sibling duo to see how long their syndrome-like popularity will last.
none of our faves are safe from Akdong International.

"Selected by the American Billboard' ...or just the readers that go its site?
Why would groups like SNSD/2NE1 be up against actual new groups like Fifth Harmony, etc?
Sorry that the U.S/Billboard has been sleeping on Korean girl groups forever and think that IGAB/Crush are "debuts" from these well established groups?

You better stan for New and Upcoming K-pop Sensations 2NE1.
Sorry I keep reverting back to old posts, catching up after a crazy week...I never understood this song...no MV, was even officially released? They released right after the "Expectation" and "Female President," but it was...nothing?

Think they meant more like international/crossover, that's what they always end up clarifying...did ya'll see the text tho? 2NE1 and OC won by write-in votes, weren't even nominated and won! lol

It was released as part of the Girl's Day Party chronology but was only promoted because it was summer and etc
Summer 2014 -> Later half of 2014?
Is Big Bang getting 2NE1'd?
I choose to remain optimistic and say that the second half of the year seems likely. I mean, I don't get how GD only went into the studio like 6 weeks ago and YG expected the album to be out in summer? He's not that quick.
