Artists steering clear of the media between eras is the dumbest idea It's almost ALWAYS murder.
I agree, I've almost never seen it work. A lot of people would counter my side by saying someone like JT took a 7 year break between albums, but he still did movies inbetween ans wasn't completely absent from the public eye.
Only a few really established people can pull off a media blackout without declining, and I guess JT could technically be considered one of them.
Sade is the only example this decade I can think of where an artist really slayed after literally doing nothing in the public eye for years and years. Her debut #s shocked everyone.
