I meant the amount paid per stream.

.15c is HUGE. If the average user uses the service 3 hours a day.... and the average song is 4 minutes, then the streaming service would have to pay out 200$ to labels per user per month.

My guess is that it tops out at .01-.03 per stream.

But do you really think once Streaming reaches an ESSENTIAL point, they will keep prices the same?

Streaming will probably hit $20+ a month, there'll be a lot more services, and you'll be using it a lot more. The payouts would eventually come around the corner of digital.

Especially once Streaming develops WW >. LOTS of countries don't use Digital and just illegal download (Spain, Egypt, and Netherlands being examples). Once you get them on Streaming instead.

I don't disagree with the overall sentiment that Streaming could end up matching, or passing, digital (it is possible... we will see.)

I just don't agree with how you got there.

I actually think that the # of total streams will end up passing what you predicted. Streaming could easily end up cannibalizing radio.

I just really don't want Streaming to take over completely, though. I want sales to atleast have medium impact still.

What happens when people no longer use Digital + Radio to have them get into new artists / hits? They begin listening to every new single from the same artists, over and over again.

It'll literally be impossible for Rihanna/Katy-like artists to flop, because people will always listen to a new single whether they like it or not. + the Music Videos will always get views.

It's kinda scary to think they could get like 50 #1's.

No matter how hard I try I can only get it to spit out songs I actually like at a 25% success rate.

I don't use Spotify's radio system. I just listen to the newest singles by Rihanna/Katy-like artists on repeat.

I have a really hard time setting it up to only play certain songs as well

I feel like it isn't very intuitive for someone switching from itunes.

Do y'all not realize you can make a new account every month and do a 30 day trial, meaning you get unlimited music, no ads, Mobile playing, and other features for free.

I haven't actually paid for Premium in like 1 year, even tho I still have had it.

Free spotify on mobile is the pits. You can't even listen to a specific song you have to listen to an official playlist

Using iTunes for free, setting up a new email/facebook every month, I know which is easier lol.

It's literally 5 minutes.

1. Go on Spotify.com
2. Enter e-mail, password, birthday, and you have an account.
3. Go try Premium, type credit card.
4. Set reminder to cancel, and restart cycle after 29 days.

Why do labels feel the need to submit songs as "____ - feat. Artist" instead of "___ (feat. Artist)".

Apple will actually probably be one of the last to hop on it.

They probably won't do it until it's all that's left, since there's no point of doing it why digital is still strong and cannibalizing their own sales.

I agree that they will be the last to introduce it. However, that will be the tipping point when it becomes ubiquitous.
