We will get it next year at the very least, and we will all be praying that she doesn't abandon it if it flops. We will also be praying for those 4 magical words: "Christina Aguilera announces tour.."

Bionic's promo, besides 'Teenage dream' was one of the best promo schedules by a pop girl ever.
So bad that it didn't worked, Xtina's hate was REAL at that time.
Sis no, the 'Bionic' promo was a hot mess
Receipts
First of all, it only lasted a week if you exclude the Oprah performance which didn't have that much impact anyway. She did a couple of magazine interviews and covers, but her radio promo was limited and it shouldn't have been given how Candyman and KGB struggled to reach 30 million AI. Also, she used her biggest promo spot, American Idol, to perform a song that wasn't a single or even available to purchase at that point (epic performance though). Moreover, there was no International promo and the ONE promo spot she had in the UK in a relatively high profile talk show was cancelled for no reason. And last but not least, when 'NMT' flopped in the US and underperformed internationally, RCA didn't even try to salvage it. A second single with a different sound and image should have been rush released to save the campaign. Instead, they released 'WooHoo' as a promo single (masterpiece ), which the GP wasn't really feeling and then they released 'YLM' in the middle of the summer with the most horrible radio edit of all time and no promo at the time of release. THAT is a messy promo schedule and it does not compare to the flawless promo plan of 'Teenage Dream' which lasted 2 years, covered all markets, reached all audiences and spawned 8 singles and 8 videos.
I have so much faith in her though. I just KNOW she's going to come hard this time. I just hope RCA doesn't mess anything up. They need to give her the flawless promo P!nk, Alicia and JT had for their 2012 and 2013 eras tbh
That week was one of the most epic ones. A lot of miniconcerts, interviews, Award Show, documental, massacre. But they promoted to hell Bionic a single week.
And I'm sure that Bionic will be her only heavy promoted album and her last album with a choreo in a video.

The receipts I was kind of busy during Bionic and just a bit disconnected from the music scene in general, so I didn't really experience the era as much as I could have, but your summation really illustrates how little the promo was. I mean i knew it was like only a week, but seeing it all laid out like that really strongly reinforces just how minimal it was
I wonder how things would have turned out if she hadn't given up. Just in recent times, the previous album by Beyonce, and Alicia Keys last album did not debut well. But they weren't as big of underperformances as they could have been because they didn't give up on them so soon. Especially Alicia performing Girl On Fire at any and every event
And I agree about radio promo. You can book every award show in the world but without radio support, you're not going to have a true hit that can sustain album sales. I knew Bionic (and Lotus) were in trouble when she kept doing these TV shows and Awards but barely any radio promo and that should have been her focus more than anything. I wonder why she isn't engaging them. But I hope she gets back to it for her next era. She really needs to get political next time with radio. Maybe send a few cakes to the stations

I remember Alicia shoving 'GOF' down our thorats for a whole year I used to be a huge fan, but I was so secretly happy when it stalled at #11 The worst thing is that if 'Just a Fool' or even 'YB' had the amount of promo Alicia had for that song, Legend would have smashed.
Anyway, I hope the new era will be planned better. Her relationship with radio is at a much better place now. She won back the HAC / AC audience with 'SS', she reintroduced herself to the rhythmic audience with 'FTM' which was a smash there and pop radio will give her more instant support next time after 'FTM' and the DWUW remix. All she needs is a smart lead single choice and she'll get the hit she needs to kickstart the era. It doesn't even need to be a smash. Mariah's 'EOM' era started out with a moderate Top 20 hit before 'WBT' slayed lives.
I don't believe I'm threadbanned from any thread on this board so I'm gonna post when and where I like Hopefully that won't inspire you to make anymore posts that could be classified as off-topic, like this one!
AnywayZ, bar West Global Legend Dalai pls Poor Others Cause They Could Really Never Coast, Circles is my favorite song right now. Innovative X.

You have the right to post wherever you like, just like he has the right to call you out if he chooses to.
And with good reason too, given how wishy washy you've been in the past. But if you've turned over a new leaf that's good Hopefullly you stick to it.

Actually, there's literally no thread where that would be allowed/on-topic

@ you being secretely happy GOF missed The Top 10.
But that's so true about how, if JAF or YB had that level of promo, it would have done well. JAF especially just needed a few more performances.
I remember Mariah did LOTS of radio promo during the TEOM era. She even visited the station that hated her. So I hope Christina follows that path and makes nice with any stations still reluctant to play her.
You're not the only one I LIVE for Urban Christina. As a fan, I think it's better for her to go the HAC/ AC route and do ballads and maybe mid-tempos, possibly soul music too. But as a simple listener, I NEED her vocals on hip hop beats. It's just perfect
She's definitely reached the younger demographic with 'The Voice', 'FTM' (and the Kids Choice performance) and 'Say Something' though
Yes, I think the best thing for her is the HAC/AC route... But really, that's kind of boring. I mean I probably wouldn't enjoy the music as much. I like her fast bops.
I love how you stayed here and racked up so many posts already lol.
Actually, there's literally no thread where that would be allowed/on-topic
People call out each other daily on this board lol. No one has to hide behind that and say it's not on topic. But I guess if you're going to hide behind that, I guess nothing's changed with you
