As for the commercial mess of this era I CANNOT believe that the promotion schedule has been so messy/nonexistant. this era could've had THREE signature shakira smashes. possibly FOUR. this could've and should've been her biggest american era EVER. smh at both shakira and her management for failing to capitalize on this album. she has done some great stuff but nothing was coordinated and I get the feeling she doesn't care anymore. in an ideal world her era imo would consist of these singles:
1. Dare (La La La)
Early March release. Epic video. Would've smashed WW. The minimal promo she's done thus far in US (one awards show, a TV show, GMA, radio promo) would've been enough to have this smash in the US too
2. Empire [World Cup Song]
Early July release. THIS SHOULD"VE BEEN THE WORLDCUP SONG. It would have the world cup promo and ride off the success of Dare and become a signature song. It deserves it. It is one of her best songs.. of her ENTIRE career. It deserved massive promo and success. US public is OBVIOUSLY receptive to it - hell I've heard it on Z100 (the US' largest radio station) three times in the past week without her even sending it to radio
3. You Don't Care About Me (feat. Rihanna)
This could've been the third WW smash of the era. Riding off the success of the previous two singles and the Rihanna feature it could've really kept the era going strong in the US
4. Medicine (feat. Blake Shelton)
The performance of this song on itunes after the CMAs and the pure catchiness of the song show the potential it had/has to smash in the US not only on country radio but also on POP. it could've been a moderate smash in the US.
sigh.
