I don't
I know Lee Brice has quality music, but its something about the way he sings "I Drive Your Truck" that makes me cringe
I will say if this was a Luke Bryan versus Lady Antebellum thread, I would say Lady Antebellum (or I would hope so anyway)
Because with Lady A, they have both quality & success

Dierks went from "Come a Little Closer Baby" to "5-1-5-0" (which rivals "Chicken Fry" for most annoying country single to be overplayed on radio). I don't get how you can bash Luke's bro-country and then praise Dierks who's been doing it for years, i.e. "What Was I Thinkin'." I will give you that he's cute and I love him
Your videos didn't work. You have to remove the "equal sign" when posting them on ATRL.

I have never seen so many Taylor Swift stans pretend to be country music purists in my life

1) No I do not, Because believe it or not I know what real country music is and have been listening to it my whole life, Luke Bryan is an embarrassment to the community. There's a reason Eric/Lee/Dierks/ZBB all get consistently better reviews than your untalented Luke.
2) STOP ACTING LIKE YOU'RE A GOD DAMN COUNTRY PURIST WHEN YOU LISTEN TO LUKE! SERIOUSLY, You of all people shouldn't be talking about "quality in country" when songs like That's My Kinda Night and Country Girl exist.

I know your responding to another user, but I felt the need to incorporate my thoughts going along with the thread topic
1) Apparently the mainstream audience loves him still and buys his records, which in an earlier post I explained he can still have a long selling career in the future.
2. quality music is within the eyes of the beholder. I will say tho the reviews speak for themselves...
If only Luke actually wrote his own music, his scores would definitely be higher (Do I>>>Most of his songs off of Crash My Party. TMKON is more of a bop tho)

Yes they do, that's why Luke stays in the 50s while ZBB/Dierks/Eric maintain 70s along with Taylor and Carrie.
Pop fans love him. No intact male actually likes Luke and if you ever go to a real country concert the minute Luke's name is dropped people will attack you. I remember when Luke was announced as a headliner for Boots and Hearts in Canada people actually tried making a petition to get a better head liner.

ddddd reciepts tho? I get what your talking about, in my head it has to deal with the fact he's getting too mainstream and many conservative country fans get turned off by that sort of change (but they still buy mainstream country albums).
The other thing I see is Luke is definitely getting a bit more poppy, which is fine for an era, but if he reverts his music around (which I can see similarly to Faith Hill's Butterflies), he can become a bit more conservative and hold his sales strong.

I HATE Lee Brice I can handle only so many stereotypes of country music in a single song. His stupid "Give Me Back My Hometown" song is almost offensive.
Lady Antebellum is getting better As long as they never stoop as low as "Need You Now" again, they're fine with me. "Downtown" was cute, though I'm pressed they're having what should be Sugarland's success.

I kii'd a bit
1. I've also been listening to country music my whole life. Why does your experience invalidate mine? They can get better reviews all they want, but they're clearly not good enough to get people buying. There's nothing enjoyable about any of them at the moment and their record sales show it.
2. I was the person who said "Country music is Pop music 10 years late" and compared a country music purist to my grandfather who's still mad Willie Nelson put bluegrass in country music and Dolly Parton made country so "pop." I actually enjoy country music moving forward, hence why I support artists like Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Taylor Swift, The Band Perry, etc. and get annoyed by the country music purists who want generic, stereotypical country songs like "Chicken Fried" and "I Want My Hometown Back."
On a side note, I'm not a big fan of Country Girl (it's cute, but the worst single from that album), but TMKON slays.

Lady Antebellum's Compass is everything at least Need You Now still makes the group money if they ever retire
I mean you can't stop songs like Chicken Fried from doing well, see how Pharrell's Happy is smashing and that song is a bit of a throw back sound wise. Luke is doing good and people will use his sound (maybe) in the future
and you last statement I TOTALLY agree. Country Girl is his catalog seller ( ) but its just, mess.

1. There's noting enjoyable about them? When you're so use to listening to pop driven crap than I can understand but there's nothing wrong with more traditional sounding country.
2. Why should other country artists have to move forward when they were raised with traditional sounds and want to release traditional country songs? There's nothing wrong with "Chicken Friend" or "Give Me Back My Hometown". The lyrics behind "Give Me Back My Hometown" are beautiful and the story within the lyrics is a fresh breath of air that's been missing from country radio for decades.
Just because you want trashy stupid pop music to invade country doesn't mean everyone has to agree with it.

let's not go there, their are way too many country-pop acts that are invading country music right now besides Luke Bryan. The Country Pop sound has been really popular for years too. Another good sign for Luke

What year was the article you mentioned?

I already own Carrie's debut album

What y'all who are voting Hunter can do is send requests to have Invisible be pushed moreso on country radio so it doesn't peak so low!

A shame because as far as I'm concerned, Luke is one of the 4 worst things to happen to country music this century.

Lady Antebellum just always disappointed me because they were supposedly the "next Dixie Chicks" when I first heard of them.
I didn't even know "Compass" was them. It's alright.
I like the Chicken Fried and Happy comparison. Seems about right

1. When did I say there was anything wrong with traditional country? I just told you I listen to old country music. There is something wrong when you stereotype country music and your entire career revolves around the old joke that if you a reverse a country music song you'll get your dog back, your wife back, your hometown back, etc. That's why I'm so offended by something like "Give Me Back My Hometown." On a side note, since when are Lee Brice, Eric Church, Dierks Bentley, etc. NOT pop-driven? Not a single one of them sound like traditional country music at all. Just because they stereotype country music and don't allude to T-pain does not mean that they aren't pop-driven. Do we even need to go over how "5-1-5-0," "Creepin'," Homeboy," etc. are not traditional country?
2. Did you really just say that there's a shortage of country songs complaining about hometowns changing? Are you also missing country music about how your girlfriend cheated on you and took your favorite dog? A handful of songs missing your hometown: Justin Moore's "Smalltown USA," Bon Jovi and Jennifer Nettles on "Who Says You Can't Go Home," Blake Shelton's "Home," Dierks Bentley's "Home," David Nail's "Turning Home," Montgomery Gentry's "My Town," Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me," Uncle Kracker's "My Hometown," etc. If I had more space, I'd throw in some more. You're acting like "Give Me Back My Hometown" is the Dixie Chicks' "Silent House" and actually brings something new to the over-explored trope

The Essays
At least we are all (whomever is posting) more deep rooted about our feelings about country music
And Lady A was never going to be the next Dixie Chick, first of all there are 2 guys and 1 girl in the group

Already bought Blown Away.
Your post reminded me that "Jesus Take the Wheel," "Two Black Cadillacs" and "Remind Me" are Carrie Underwood's trinity of perfect songs Let me go grab my iPod.
