Those of you complaining obviously aren't very knowledgable on the subject, no shade intended. Designing a good user interface is often the most time-consuming (and most important) part of any project. It's great that the admins already have a solid vision for that; once the new software is published (which I suspect will be the backbone of the vast majority of the site's functionality, besides custom features that the admins write themselves), it's mostly about getting it set up in a user-friendly way, which they've already designed very nicely imo.

Maybe, but if the update doesn't come soon like in summer then this would be a bit of a spit and slap on the face, and NOT the fun, sexual kind.

Cause showing us getting us hype knowing it's not done, all your gonna get is "when is it coming out"? " what's taking so long"? The same two question OVER AND OVER AGAIN. The new site needs a way to delete accounts instead of just requesting permabans imo

I agree. That would free up so much space on the database. The only problem is it could also create issues with threads and posts. Say a thread with a thousand replies was originally posted by somebody deemed eligible for deletion (inactive for many years, permabanned with no chance of coming back, etc); the original post and any posts made by them would have to be owned by someone. I think the way they have it now is it'll show "deleted user" or something, and the post will be in limbo but still visible. I wonder if the new software can do that, or if there's a way to transfer ownership to a specific member or just one account that houses all of the deleted members' posts.

BINGO! And if you had seen some of the posts from back in the day, they are so funny. For instance, look at the first 1000 pages of NHB. I would hate to lose those posts unless they get archived.

We’re going to change the organization of smileys and remove some that don’t fit any longer. Smiley additions are not officially part of the upgrade as they can be done at any time. That said, JDM will be back soon to take your requests for new smileys.

The interactive tour is a script based navigation that takes you through the site and highlights important areas; much like you’ll see whenever Google releases a new gmail or when Twitter releases a new dashboard. I’ve spoken to a very talented member of ATRL about providing narration for our guide videos and some other promotional material. So we’ll have both text and video form guides available.

To free up our database we’re going to be removing threads that are several years old.

Yes, we don’t have any plans to remove that information. IPB is structured to import those files seamlessly.
