Even in my teens boys would come up to me just to crack jokes, then they'd walk away and laugh about it with their friends. I would try to fight back, so I would attack them, physically or say something hurtful to them. But it didn't make me feel better and it didn't stop people from laughing at me.
So then I learned to avoid men and to hide my "flaws" by wearing long sleeves and using make up and that's how I fixed the situation, sorta. But I can't fix the damage that was already done to me mentally. I don't see how I "bear part of the blame".

So you just say "Eh maybe theyre right" In other words you pretty much let other people's opinions define you. Yep thats all you.

I feel that it's a little of both on average. Before the internet and widespread tech, it was more local. You could escape it. If you were unpopular for something at school and moved away you could have a fresh start. But these days all someone has to do is easily look up the school, message people and now your new school knows.
So while it's easier to harass someone, I think people are also being kinda wimpy about it. I was bullied in school and instead of crying about it or taking my own life, I forged ahead. Telling myself that one day life will be good. It hasn't still and high school was 7 years ago but still.

No, it doesn't. I'm not saying it's nice or that they should do it, or that as a society we should feed into it, it's very ridiculous that that is something our society feeds into so maniacally.
I AM saying that the term "bullying" is 100% the WRONG word to apply to that situation. It does not fit the textbook definition of bullying. Either find a new word to call it or change the official definition of the word bullying.
I suppose the line is more blurred when it's people's own personal struggles which are being used as tabloid fodder, like what happened with Britney a few years back, that's something that's more of a grey area.
But if you're a celebrity and you go to the beach and you somehow think you're NOT going to have pictures taken of you, you're being stupid. It comes with the territory, and 95% of people who are noteworthy enough to be in tabloids CHOSE to be that noteworthy.
Like when Kim Kardashian was being called superfat during her pregnancy. I had NO sympathy, because she CHOSE to be famous, and CHOSE to become so in a truly disgusting way, she doesn't DO anything with her life, and she's rich as hell. She can just deal with it. She asked for the attention of society to be placed upon her and she is reaping what she sowed.

Yes it does. No one forces you to go back.
If theyre following you, or they know you irl is a different story though.

They do, to a certain extent. I live in the real world sis. If I just ignored what they said about me I wouldn't have a job right now.

She is a business woman, so if she doesn't do anything with her life, neither does anyone who owns a business or a brand. And I doubt her (or any celebrity) can hear or see horrible things being said about them and then just go "Ah, I'm famous it's okay!".

If you know you're ugly, you have low self esteem.

I think bullying was way worse back then, prejudice and biggotry were way higher, kids are too weak these days.
However, we thankfully are now more paying attention to "bullying" because it has been studied and found that it indeed can lead to traumas and a sad future life.

Whatever the official definition, there is no denying that body-shaming, hurtful gossip, and rumor-mongering is common to both regular bullying and "bullying celebrities" whatever you may want to call it.
Sure, I don't like Kim Kardashian and I think she's a worthless trashy tramp, but I also think that what the tabloids did to her then was a form of this bullying, no matter what I think of her. I could say that I hate this kid and that he deserves the bullying he gets, but that doesn't change the fact that he is getting bullied. And that's usually the case. A lot of kids who get bullied consistently in school are genuinely annoying or weird or both. They don't deserve the bullying, but when you are his/her peer, you kind of see why the bullies are doing it. Doesn't make it right tho

Some people are just ugly though, so naturally they'll have low self esteem Nature makes plenty of mistakes.

Bullying builds character and teaches children values and discipline? What kind of ********?
I'm sorry, but I learned how to stand up for myself with advice and support from my friends and family, not from the group of kids who constantly harassed me because I looked like a "******".
What works for you won't work for other people; some of you are out of touch with reality, and it's easy to tell.
Bullying shouldn't be encouraged or glamorized, and the fact that some of you are saying it builds character... ...okay, tell that to the many others who kill themselves because of this, or suffer severe problems.
Is it worse? Sometimes it is, and sometimes it isn't, however, bullying is bullying, regardless of the situation. Are we too sensitive? Not at all.

Why is this so hard for people to understand this? It's not complicated at all.

If some teen killed himself/herself due to bullying, you can be sure they'd kill themselves over the much larger stresses of adult life. Thus, tragedy was inevitable.

Beside the point. The point is that not every incident of one person making fun of/insulting another qualifies as bullying.

Besides, the "Anti-Bullying" folks tend to be notorious bullies to those who don't share their opinions.

That's why I get wary when we keep trying to force people who gave up on living to live.
