I really want a good love song, or a meaningful break up song. Songs about rape and alcoholism would translate well on ballads, but I don't know if I want a ballad as her next lead.
I am not sure how I would feel about EDM unless it was Aubrey Napoleon like. Didn't Zedd say that they didn't really appeal to radio requirements or something from ARTPOP? Yeah were are those massive EDM tracks! I want to hear them ASAP.

just something generally different from what she's doing now. it would still be a reinvention of herself, something she talks about loving to do. mostly i just want her to stop relying on an outdated formula that's done nothing but tarnish her image more. she can blame her ill management on whatever team she had before but at the end of the day she still has control over what she does with some of the things she does and she needs to consider that a wow factor is exactly what people are expecting.
a good lead single is something that will capture people, impress them and make them want to hang on for more. Applause kinda did that but ultimately fell through cause of a million factors, mostly because she thought just simply going back to The Fame and generally her old dance music would fix the damage done from BTW. for a good lead single, a good phoenix rising from the ashes, she has to give the public something they wouldn't expect from her. i agree with a lot of people here in that a good pop-rock/glam rock inspired song (imo about something not particularly grand in lyrical concept, something generally relatable) with a simple, clear-cut music video with the sole purpose to get on people's good graces again. maybe not be a mega hit, leave that for other singles off the album, but just make people LIKE her and her music and the direction she's going with.
so yeah, a pop-rock lead single that maybe adopts musical and expressive methods similar to Poker Face and Bad Romance. that's it. straight, simple, sound.
She just confuses the hell out of me, especially since she's the one that could pull something like this off the best
