but we did get warned when she said this album was going to be immature and less serious than her past albums (wasn't expecting the quality drop tho)
I guess the only thing that threw me off was that she called it her first real album
ugh i can't ****ing find which magazine interview it was, but back when applause was released, gaga told some magazine that she doesn't write music to make people think she's a genius. she just wants to make music that makes people have fun and have another drink at the bar, or something.
when i read that, my expectations for the album were instantly lowered (although, not enough, since i still ended up disappointed)
Tbh she needs to bring back the dark twisted weirdness, with the leather edginess she had going. Not this art history major realness
my opinion is that she just needs to be more balanced. TFM was balanced. BTW got too weird.
if you're ugly/scary all the time, it's not as special or impactful.
i think this is what contributed to the tune out.
I thought that meant it would be like The Fame. And the sad thing is, she meant it to be. She meant for this to be a better version of The Fame, which is why she called it her first real album.
But this isn't even close Lyrics like "Walk down the runway but don't puke, it's okay, you just had a salad today" wouldn't be caught in a 100,000 mile perimeter of The Fame
I guess we can only hold out hope that her next album will be like The Fame Monster (and she'll actually succeed)
LMFAO i'm literally crying i didn't realize she was saying that. i don't ever listen to donatella, so i forgot how trashy it is

Ironically, it was probably at that time when her expectations for the album were also lowered

You're joking right? The Fame has some ****** songs on it. With lyrics worse than the ones you've posted
This era just isn't cohesive. One minute she's serving for the Gods with a balance of edgy/weird style with sexy/leather realness the next she's dressed like a 7th graders ceramic art project. I don't get it
why can I not find this damn interview? I think it was for a magazine
I think it was even talking about Gypsy and she described it as a song that is played when the bar is about to close and you're thinking about your life, or something Omggggg

Please post some ****** Fame lyrics. I guarantee they are nowhere near as ****** as the worst ARTPOP lyrics (basically all of Donatella and select parts of J&D).
I'm not saying that The Fame is perfect, but the highs on The Fame kick ARTPOP's ass. I mean, Poker Face, Paparazzi, and LoveGame alone **** on the rest of her discography. They're the perfect balance of catchy, relatable, and ingenious.
Was Donatella a late addition? I know some people try and say Fashion! was but she seems to generally enjoy the song and has even performed it for fans for fun and on television. I know Venus for sure is one.. Dope too.. the others?

she already posted her "explanation" for this
Quote:
"If you watched me from September to December of last year, you saw me in the most manic performance of my life," she says. "I was changing my outfits, my looks, my wigs, every day, sometimes multiple times a day. That's when I know my soul is restless. It comes out in a very physical way. If I'm able to hold on to one look for a longer period of time, it means I've settled into a new idea. If I haven't, I'm just searching for the next thing, 'What's next? What's next?'"

I like it Rough
Paper Gangster
Starstruck
Eh,Eh (There's literally nothing else I say in this song)

All of the zedd songs were when he was touring with her. Same with Madeon. So I feel like they were early.
Demi would have a field day if she heard those lyrics
Hell would break loose
At least Donatella is fun and the lyrics are digestible not some pretentious thing with nonsensical lyrics about "art" and "pop" belonging together. And the lyrics to Swine are also the pits...
