So, early in the game, is it best to navigate Yuna to Lulu's sphere grid and vice versa? Yuna seems useless to me right now unless there are hard hitters :/.

I wouldn't; she'd be even more useless that way. You'll need Yuna for her healing (it saves you a TON of potions) and her summoning once you walk in to an era that you're underleveled for. I recommend just using Lulu in the beginning because training is so easy in the very end with the switch-out feature and the Don Tonberry trick.

I'm in the same position as you. I mean, I will never complete all of the sphere grids for the platinum if I stay grinding there. I think I'll just give up and use the trick tbh

Are you using the expert grid? Don't completely take yuna into Lulu's grid, but there will be opportunities when you can slip over and get some black magic spells so that yuna can be a fighter as well. Yuna will have better magic too so it will be stronger than Lulu's she'll just get it later.

It isn't cheap, sis. They designed FFX to have this trick. They have quick leveling in every Final Fantasy but make it very hard to uncover. We're just fortunate enough that someone figured out how to do it already and worked out the kinks. There's no reason to not use it.
