Thank you so much, guys (on mobile so cannot multi quote)
Frozen, this is actually a different job, but I got offered the other one as well so I basically had to choose between two It was a no brainer though because one of them was only part time and temporary (6 months), whereas the other is full time and permanent. So I went with that one of course
But I'm still completely amazed.. I came to this country 6 months ago and now it will become my new home for good, it's a dream come true

Though Thrift Shop is mainly about what the title says, there are plenty of references to clothes and accessories in the smash hit. It also provides a valuable message to everyone that you don't have to buy expensive items to look good. In fact, there are plenty of instances where you can get a costly item at a much more reasonable price elsewhere. Fashion is fashion and it can mean a top that's $200 to one person and a $6.50 shirt from Walmart to another - it's all about what you're comfortable in. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis made a social statement by saying that thrift shops, mostly filled with used and extremely cheap outfits, are fine to shop at and shouldn't be discouraged. It actually helped out some businesses in the process, too. The song tells us that even if you're in green gator shoes, a leopard mink or a dookie brown leather jacket: it's your style and you're free to wear it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder whether you're talking about a face or a fabric, and that's what fashion really is: your own interpretation.

I chose Blue Jeans because it describes love and pain through fashion. I mean, in the first verse, we can see the description of her perfect boyfriend "Blue jeans, white shirt". He's dressed up in a simple way and this is like the basics nowadays. It's obvious that she does not want him to wear something more expensive or more fancy. She just loves him the way he is. Then, she says that he "fits her better than her favorite sweater". As we all know, sweaters are worn to warm the body. That's what her boyfriend is to her too. She just loves to keep him close and love him because she feels that he completes her heart. Now, the whole song has a different meaning: losing a boyfriend due to addictions; like money or drugs. She tries to stop him, but she can't. But, I used this as a fashion song, because fashion can have another meaning than just expensive clothes. You can also see the simplicity of it and that they don't need to be the most expensive things to look good. She loved him just with his blue jeans and his white shirt so she did not need him to wear fancy stuff.

For the Survivor Themed Challenge, on fashion I did no other than -- A$AP Rocky's "Fashion Killa". This song was appropriate fitting, and an all around good choice for many reasons in general. But ofcourse, onto the main topic -- it fits the fashion theme perfectly, while doing it in a Rap song, which ofcourse is one of the most unique ways possible in music. He names the Prada, Escada, Dolce & Gabanna while keeping the song cute. Lets also get into the FASHION ICON HERSELF, Rihanna appearing in the music video. Like besides the reference, she is IN the video -- it doesn't get any better than that, when choosing a person to depict fashion in a music video. The song talks about Fashion, the song it's self is fashion-themed, the song/video have a Fashion Icon, so it doesn't really get anymore 'spot on'.

Rockin', rollin', swaggin' to the max
My bitch a fashion killa, she be busy poppin' tags
She got a lotta Prada, that Dolce & Gabanna
I can't forget Escada, and that Balenciaga
I'm sippin' purple syrup, come be my Aunt Jemima
And if you is a rider, we'll go shoppin' like mañana
Her attitude Rihanna, she get it from her mama
She jiggy like Madonna, but she trippy like Nirvana
Cause everything designer,
Her jeans is Helmut Lang, shoes is Alexander Wang
And her shirt the newest Donna, Karan
Wearin' all the Cartier frames
Jean Paul Gaultiers cause they match with her persona

In this track, Kreayshawn disses people who think that wearing designer labels makes them cool. And that's exactly what I think is one of the most important aspects of fashion - it's not so much about what you wear, but about how you wear it: If you don't have the right attitude, designer clothes alone won't make you cool. You need to have the personality and confidence to wear these items, or else you'll make a total fool of yourself.
Many people think they can hide behind the names of famous designers when they wear their clothes, and that some of the glamour might rub off on themselves. But the truth is, if you are a basic bitch, you will stay a basic bitch, no matter how much money you spend on clothes. Fashion should enhance who you are as a person, not be used to create a fake persona, and Kreayshawn tells us about this in a fun, light way - even going as far as saying that she is so cool, she does not even need all those labels.

Warning, Brands Will Appear In The Song...
To be honest, fashion is not my strongest suit so finding a song is hard. I'm an avid user of 8tracks.com for customized playlists, I typed "Pop Fashion", one click led to another and then stumbled upon this Playlist and the 1st song that played is Fergie's Label Or Love...
I chose this song because to a superficial level Fashion is deemed narcissistic, shallow and rather obsessive but when put into perspective it can be a form of therapeutic intervention and a spiritual journey to some. This song showcased how Fashion is used to brush of love. By channeling inner angst and self-loathing due to love into shopping for Labels, one feels happy and rejuvenated. The striking lyrics would have to be the following: "Loves like a runway but which one do I love more? No emotional baggage just big bags filled with Dior. Loves like a runway so whats all the fussing for? Lets stop chasing those boys and shop some more", Fergie gives a commanding presence on how love can be tumultuous yet a simple gesture for picking up Fashion label's can lift someones emotional despair. And that beat make you wanna strut the runway amiright? See if you can spot all the fashion brands and a car brand in the song. So go out and be Supercalifragisexy...

I chose the song by Wavy Spice, an underground rapper from New York, called Bitch I'm Posh. The definition of posh is "elegant or stylishly luxurious." Synonyms are fashionable, smart, and high class. When you think fashion you think Chanel, Christian Louboutin, Fendi. And one thing about all those is you can't afford it on a minimum wage sallary. With this song putting out there how Wavy Spice is "posh" aka, high class, luxurious, and fashionable, there is nothing that represents fashion better than this as fashion icons like Naomi Campbell represent all things posh.

Lyrics
Wa mono - there's me, there's you (hoko-ten)
In a pedestrian paradise
Where the catwalk got its claws (meow)
A subculture in a kaleidoscope of fashion
Prowl the streets of Harajuku (irasshaimase)
Super lovers, tell me where you got yours
(at the super lovers store)
Yoji Yamamoto, I'm hanging with the locals
Where the catwalk got its claws, all you fashion know-it-alls
With your underground malls in the world of Harajuku
Putting on a show, when you dress up in your clothes
Wild hair color and cell phones
Your accessories are dead on
Harajuku Girls you got the wicked style
I like the way that you are, I am your biggest fan
Harajuku Girls you got the wicked style
I like the way that you are, I am your biggest fan
Harajuku girls, I'm looking at you girls
You're so original girls
You got the look that makes you stand out
Harajuku Girls, I'm looking at you girls
You mix and match it girls
You dress so fly and just parade around (arigato)
I'm fascinated by the Japanese fashion scene
Just an American girl, in the Tokyo streets
My boyfriend bought me a Hysteric Glamour shirt
They're hard to find in the states, got me feeling couture (it's really cool)
What's that you got on? Is it Comme des Garcons?
Vivienne Westwood can't go wrong, mixed up with second hand clothes
(Let's not forget about John Galliano) (no)
Flipped the landscape when Nigo made A Bathing Ape
I got expensive taste (oh, well) guess I better save up (cho takai)
Harajuku Girls you got the wicked style
I like the way that you are, I am your biggest fan
Work it, express it, live it, command your style
Create it, design it
Now let me see you work it
Create it, design it
Now let me see you work it
You bring style and color all around the world. (You Harajuku Girls)
You bring style and color all around the world. (You Harajuku Girls)
You're looking so distinctive like D.N.A., like nothing I've ever seen in the U.S.A.
Your underground culture, visual grammar
The language of your clothing is something to encounter
A Ping-Pong match between eastern and western
Did you see your inspiration in my latest collection?
Just wait 'til you get your little hands on L.A.M.B.,
'Cause it's (super kawaii), that means (super cute in Japanese)
The streets of Harajuku are your catwalk (bishoujo you're so vogue)
That's what you drop
Cho saikou - Harajuku Girls
And that's what you drop, that's what you drop
Cho saikou - Harajuku Girls
And that's what you drop, that's what you drop
(I don't think you understand I'm your biggest fan)
(Gwen Stefani - you like me?)
Style detached from content
A fatal attraction to cuteness
Style is style
Fashion is fashion
Girl, you got style.
I decided not to go for the obvious 'fashion' route like Gaga/Madonna etc. I chose this song because I think it's quirky, to me that's what fashion should be. I don't claim to be an expert in fashion but I do love my clothes and I have a keen interest, especially in anything vintage or unique. I love anything that differs from the norm. Harajuku is a place in Japan famous for it's thriving young and unique fashion exploits. As you can tell from the song lyrics the song is basically an ode to the beautiful style of the girls from the fashion capital harajuku. The song contains references to designers, the catwalk but more interestingly and importantly, the culture behind fashion. I think that's what makes this song perfect for the theme, it doesn't just shamelessly name-drop a designer and parade itself as a song about fashion, it explores the people and society behind the fashion as well. Gwen has a lovely voice and the song is laid back and infectious.

There's not a lot of songs about "fashión" out there I'm aware of and I also didn't want it to be an obvious choice so I've done a little bit of digging and eventually came up with one of the biggest last year's hits,
Thrift Shop
The debut single brought an astonishing success to its performers, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, the back-then sleeper hit sold over 7M just in the States and its video is 14th most watched YT video ever with 500M+ views.
In the song Macklemore acts like an archaeologist who's "diggin', diggin' and searchin' right thru the luggage ('cause) one man's trash that's another man's come up." Entering such outlet venue can feel like a time travel since you can stumble over decades old out of use stuff which is exactly the point of the song: fashionableness is relying on mixing the old with new. The song could be also seen as an adoption of the recent phenomenon, hipster's culture, since M&RL are pointing out their re-enacting with recent but already kind of lost and dead past and bringing it to life, creating their own *new* style by re-using forgotten, though not-ancient things; it's not about Prada/Gucci/Versace, more of combining outdated Good Will clothes.
The message of the song is basically "What's old is new again," & "wearing 80's/90's kitschy clothes is the way to be considered fashionable and cool. " It was very refreshing not to hear a rap about some expensive, branded stuff but rather about shopping at an outlet shop.

I know I've said that I'd never rely on Gaga to snatch the win for me anymore, but well, I had to pick this one It's literally a song all about clothes, designers, being a model and just about anything fashion-related. If that wasn't enough, the song is called Fashion. I coulda picked the other Fashion, but this one fits the theme better.
