I will never get tired of Throwback. He's in the studio with Rico again, I don't mind tbh if it's songwriting because they make a great team.

Tbh, "Throwback" and "Daddy's Home" are the only songs of their collaboration that I like/love. "Without You" has some very repetitive lyrics and its Usher's voice that sells the track, while all of Rico's writing imo, feels like it tries too hard to be deep with double or triple entendre's. "Dive" is a good example. Then you have "There Goes My Baby" which to me anyways, is probably his most overrated song ever.
It's also possible that Rico Love's smugness pisses me off. He would've been nothing without Usher but he's one of those people that believe that they know better.

Rico's writing is good, but his production is repetitive. The best songs he has with Usher is Throwback, Looking for Myself, and Lessons for the Lover. Like I said I really don't mind them working together because they work so well just as long as Rico isn't producing. I know people don't want him working with J.D because he is "dated" but I think his production isn't great anymore because he doesn't have that chemistry he has with Usher.

Even his writing skills, I believe are sub-par at best. There are some catchy to very good choruses but overall he's not that great of a writer and holds Usher's ability to sing back. Remember how he used to spit on tracks with JD's writing? It's like he got slower when working with Rico.
I don't want him working with JD either. He's a shell of his former self and looks like a boy who refuses to grow up to a man in his 40's. Chewing gum and wearing snapback's during interviews like a degenerate? The same guy who dated a Jackson? Maybe as a writer... but as a producer? Mehh... I'll wait and see though.
Usher's music felt fresh with producers like Diplo, Danja, Jim Jonsin or Jimmy Jam&Terry Lewis. With Rico or JD, its just rehashes after rehashes imo.

Maybe if it's just Rico himself. The thing is producers rarely have long careers, they're hot for a minute and then their production becomes old and uninspired. Usher though, he's improved so much from the writing aspect. I know most people don't refer him as a songwriter but he wrote Mars v Venus, Climax, Sins of My Father, Without You, etc.. You see so much improvement. Jermaine is still a good songwriter, but we'll see, I know both of them stopped slacking. He already recorded several songs with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

Usher co-writes the big majority of his songs, but when you're working for a big album, you don't have a choice but to bring in more people to make sure things are right, just look at how many people wrote the absolutely simplistic lyrics of "Run The World". Usher is a mainstream artist, he's not an underground artist like say The Weeknd. He makes commercialized music, but the twist is how he can make it fresh and interesting every time he comes back. That's why he has 8/9 Grammy's.
I love Confessions and I enjoyed Raymond v Raymond a lot, but seriously I wish he would continue to explore and work with different people. If Rico Love is happy working with more and more different people, so should Usher. The wider his portfolio of work is, the better he will look once he does ever retire, otherwise you'll have more naysayers like that ridiculous JT stan here spreading BS.

He is working with several different producers this time. They're mostly unknown and newer producers and I don't think he's doing that many features again. I really want to know how that DJ Cassidy feature is going to sound. Don't listen to the delusional stans they're always trying to lie about Usher's stats. Luckily there is several Usher stans now.

Rico is great, one of the best songwriters in the game and they're good friends.
@profound789: you think wrong about Rico. I'm also a fan of him and I can tell you he's very thankful because everything started with Usher and he mention this so much not like JB etc.. "There Goes My Baby" isn't overrated it's a good song and people love it. And to let you know, Rico doesn't produce that much alone it's mostly with Jim Jonsin, Earl & E or Salaam Remi etc.
Here a list from L4M:
Dive - Jim Jonsin, Rico Love, Romano, Mr. Morris
Looking 4 Myself - Rico Love, Medor, Earl & E
Lessons for the Lover - Rico Love, Medor, Earl & E
Sins of My Father - Salaam Remi, Rico Love
Looking 4 Myself, Sins of My Father and Lessons for the Lover are great songs. Dive was okay for me I liked the music video more than the song.

Usher is becoming a follower not an innovator. Because pharrell did it 1st with the hat which is annoying

That hat is really stupid.
As for as Rico is concerned I don't like his [online] personality. He is talented and I think that he truly cares about Usher.

He's trolling with the hat. I think he's just having fun with it. His guitarist is a good songwriter/producer too. He's basically working with new and older producers and I think it will turn out great.

Well the trolling isn't favoring him because people have already been questioning his legacy since JT came back and now they are calling him desperate for attention and a copycat.

To each its own, I don't expect everyone to agree with me. But I don't think my opinion could be wrong, just like how many of you don't like "Trading Places" while I love it. Also I do think "There Goes My Baby" is overrated because I don't personally don't think the lyrics are that good, its not sonically interesting until the second bridge and the overall quality of the track isn't anywhere near the level I would expect an Usher song winning a Grammy to be at,. That's just me though. I also know Rico doesn't produce all his tracks, but he does co-produce many of them, I did follow his music very closely since RvR.
Lessons for the Lover is alright while Looking 4 Myself is okay. It would be better without the half-rap, half-spoken words section as it takes me out of the song. Sins of My Father is fantastic, but that's all Salaam Remi, that's absolutely his style of music making. I wasn't really focusing on Rico's production skills (as Touch n' You is horrible), but his writing skills, I find, are pretty lacking.
Again, just my two cents, its all subjective. I personally can't stand Rico Love's persona, and his musical contributions to Usher's career aren't that interesting and I would consider it to be filler.

I don't view it as being THAT drastic. A lot of people on twitter and instagram are some of the most overreacting people ever. It is friggin' stupid though.
I don't see him and JT in the same light. The ones that do and start crap are the ones who want to want to feed their low self-esteem. JT and Ursh are worlds apart, musically and as people but you will always have people like that Usher obsessed JT stan here, spewing BS.
The voice of the minority is loudest, but its always the most irrelevant.

To be fair, he wasn't ever an innovator. That's not what he's known for. He's one of the few people who can make something interesting out of the bits and pieces that most overlook.
Being an innovator isn't the most important thing in music because most of the time, it could be seen as a fad, rather than innovation. What Usher does best is being Usher and that's not what he's been doing lately.

I like Trading Places I already said it here especially the music video was great. I follow Rico since years and what I'm trying to say is Rico is a great person just watch his videos in the studio etc. this guy is a genius, he knows what he's doing and Usher knows that too. You guys acted like Rico produced all the songs alone that's why I listed the other producers. L4M was a great album with so much potential and Rico was a big part of the album. It's not that bad to work with him again but it's just my opinion and I respect your opinion too.

Atrl's opinion doesn't matter. The jt comparison is ****ing annoying me so much but what do you expect from stans that have zero knowledge on R&B.
Do any of you ever get the feeling that he's just done with everything? He does want to retire young

I also don't take some bandwagon ATRL users serious tbh. No, I don't think that Usher will retire young... he's still thirsty for awards etc. maybe in 5-10 Years or longer
