Also, Spotlight and Chasing Shadows were both produced by Greg Kurstin. Sia co-wrote Chasing Shadows. I'm loving Greg's work more and more…can't wait to hear more of it with Kelly. And I really hope the Sia song makes the album.

All these songs are great examples of how vocal autotune production, as an instrument, can be used correctly and appropriately in the right places to make the song's music so much better. I wish Kelly can play around with that a little to have things sound fresh. Crossing my fingers for this type of electro-banger.

I think using autotune is ok IF you know how to use it. Plus I personally don't mind KC using autotune every once in awhile.....she sounds a million times better LIVE for god sakes hahaha

Question for the Base (in order to start some discussion that does not relate to something like troll pictures or Thankful's forgotten bop You Thought Wrong):

With Stronger, Kelly's team notably strayed from the trend of putting out a huge lead single (MLWSWY) and released a mid-range moderate WW hit (MKIA) with elaborate plans to see Stronger smash as single 2 (Toyota commercial, etc).

Should she return to this successful formula for her next studio album, or release a buzzworthy bop immediately like w/ AIEW?

hmm it's tough to say, because with AIEW, MLWSWY smashed everywhere, and then there was a moderate hit with IDNHU, and another moderate (but BIG radio hit) with Already Gone.

with Stronger, MKIA was a moderate worldwide hit, then Stronger basically dominated, and because of that Dark Side never really made an impact

I've been thinking about the whole Stronger era lately and thought she released MKIA as a form of JOKE. I see it in the lyrics and MV. Everyone expected her to release a second MLWSWY or SUBG (in terms of slayage) and she just stood there and sang:

You ain’t got the right to tell me
When and where to go, no right to tell me
Acting like you own me lately
Yeah baby you don’t know a thing about me
You don’t know a thing about me

After making myself aware of this, I see this song (MKIA) so much better than I thought, especially when it was a last - minute song.

People Like Us would've done better, but not as good as CMB did. CMB would've done better than People Like Us, but wouldn't have made Top 30 I think.

I think CMB was a good choice. PLU would have smashed if it had been included on Stronger. The empowering dance pop song era was already over back then.
