If you are not hot, then the record label is not going to invest their time and resources. the way it works is that Azealia Banks has a niche audience - the gays (just stereotyping) and hipsters. I honestly hope it all works out for her because i really think she's talented, and I don't think it's fair FOR ANY ARTIST if the label continually shelves their record just because they haven't recorded music they THEY deem commercially fit. What does a record label CEO know about how a song is going to do commercially, Most of the time these record label people are not musicians themselves so they don't understand the way art is supposed to be made. Art/music is supposed to be made for the musician, and not just for commerciality. Broke with expensive taste, is going to be good (if we ever do get to hear it, because it's distinctly Azealia. END RANT

You can make commercial songs without compromising artistic integrity tho. Like make one hot radio bop bitch it's not that hard.

Is it fair for them to pay for you to record an album if you can't get people to buy it? They aren't doing anything wrong. At the end of the day everyone needs to get paid and just be cause Azealia is "oh so talented" she shouldn't get a free pass to release a bomb.

These labels need to learn that you can't force somebody to change , the more manufactured Azealia is the more that will drive her insane, having somebody else tell her what works for her is probably the worst thing .

Then the label is silly for signing her if they didn't even have a strategic plan in mind for her. Now they've got Azealia's dreams all twisted and it isn't fair on her when all she wanted to do, and was made to believe she would be able to, was to release her music properly and build her career. Interscope should have thought it through better from the beginning.
