Ooooh sis Layton is consistently great if you love puzzles and a cute solid plot.
I'd recommend starting with Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask (3DS).
Phoenix Wright is a game of logic and silly courtroom shenanigans.
I'd recommend starting with the very first game, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (DS).
(or even the newest Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies if you don't mind missing a bit of exposition, since it's prettiest)
Layton x Ace Attorney still doesn't have a release date for the U.S.
Although I have heard it's leaning on Layton's puzzles more than Ace Attorney's court cases.
