The fact these silly people on ATRL use female MJ shows his impact.

True true. But who I do find the definition of overrated is local ass kylie minogue. Only popular in europe means global to these people as if nothing else matters (
not to mention her discography is mediocre and her looks are without a doubt overrated). PlanetMars spilled the tea

Before joining ATRL and even more so now that I am a member on here it seems more clear to me that ATRL truly does have a rather deluded perspective on what makes an artist global. Here are some examples.
On ATRL global is most closely associated with (European popularity). Artists relevant only to that market are considered global, even with the possibility they may be irrelevant in the rest of the world. The most common occurrence of the delusion often falls with Beyonce being labeled "local", How can an artist relevant to ALL musical markets be called "local". Beyonce is relevant to NA, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and SA to a lesser extent.
There is a series of African movies About her
She Broke tour records in Australia
Most European female artist nowadays claim Bey as a major influence
She is also one of the most referenced American artist in K and J Pop
Her tour was the most "Globally" successful of 2013
yet she's "local"
Avril lavigne (no shade) who is relevant only to Asia and NA primarily however is the "global" star.
Shakira is basically only relevant to Latin America and Europe these days bt she's "global"
Kylie Minogue has been labeled "global" here too, I like her but , no just no
Also I seem to notice on ATRL Black artist = Local
Yet, MJ a black man is arguably the most Global artist of All time, His thriller era is the most Global era of all time, Whitney Houston's Body guard era is the most global era by a female artist ever, her rendition of IWALY is also the most global song by a female artist. In a recent thread i was surprised to find some members thought Stevie Wonder was local compared to Madonna when "I just called to say I love You" is more Global than any song shes ever released and hes influenced artists BOTH male AND female globally more than her. Hip-Hop is also considered a local genre but wait, besides the fact "Ill be Missing you" and "Gangstas Paradise" are bigger hits globally than all our faves have had the genre is common throughout the world. There is rap in Europe, Asia, Africa etc. it can literally be considered the most "GLOBAL" genre period.
A true global artists has impact that stretches beyond the developed world. Artists like Britney, Beyonce, Madonna, MJ, The Beatles etc. are "global" as in the sense their influence was not only contained in the "west" as they say.
What do you think? Please Explain, that's why it's a discussion thread

Imma quote this EVERYTIME someone dares try to say Stevie Wonder, Janet Jack, Beyonce, Mariah Carey or other artists are NOT global
