Brooklyn Nights is actually really weird when you think about it. It's VERY clearly about Luc, it's about her life in New York before fame, it's about life in a free, somewhat grieving but forward-looking sort of way. That's not something we've seen on ARTPOP really. Everything on ARTPOP but Gypsy has a very refined purpose or intention behind it - BN is just a song. It's different from her recent things. And I think I like it. I don't mind ARTPOP being, so to speak, hyperintentioned. But I like the fact that BN is just a song.
