The follower loss is almost never to do with actual unfollowing. So many accounts are egg accounts and Twitter bots are cleaning them up every day. When Gaga used to buy followers it way outweighed the ones she was losing, just like Perry, Bieber and basically all the major acts today are doing still. She can sometimes stave off the deficit by getting exposure and new followers as a result but if she wants to rise like the others, she needs to start buying again like they did.

With regards to your other post too the thing is that she doesn't necessarily have to be a rock album to be anti-pop, she just needs to make it as outlandish as sporadic as anything on, say, a Kanye West album

I guess the problem will be how to make this rebellion, ironically, commercial. Which is certainly not something she'll try and avoid, regardless of what she says.

Wouldn't the be-all-and-end-all best solution to balance the two be just to release the album for free?

I can imagine just randomly one day Gaga putting a link on her twitter to www.*albumtitle*.com leading to a website which offers the album for free. She'd have ha Beyonce moment in a way that wouldn't be so strikingly similar

Radiohead already did this years ago, there's a chance she'd be dragged.

Although it'd be interesting to see a main pop diva do that, that would certainly be a first.
