Lily's made a video for an album track because she wanted that released, but her label are probably forcing the more Pop singles.

I mean let's have a look at similar situations:

• Gaga didn't want Applause on the album, label pushed it for 1st single.
• Katy had a more mature record, that had to be compromised with basic pop. Katy also had other plans for single #3 before she was forced (probably by her label) to promote Dark Horse.
• Rihanna didn't even like Right Now, and but it was released as a single.
• Nicki didn't want to release Va Va Voom, but she already shot the video and her label decided to cash in. She didn't even acknowledge the song.
• Ellie had to release generic songs for her re-release in order to cash in on sales.
• Avril clearly didn't want HTNGU as first single, hence why she pushed RnR early on.

I could go on. But nearly every fave has been through this, it's literally normal in the industry.
But because your fave doesn't admit it, you pretend like it doesn't happen?

What a misleading title? Just because she agrees to something doesn't mean she thinks it's "**** " ect. She wrote both songs and produced her whole album in her house and she picked the tracklist. She obviously likes the songs.

I didn't know Parlaphone got assimilated. I've been confused why she can't release songs she wants when it worked so well in the previous eras but then now it's understandable. And it's pretty sad, some labels are their own enemy.

IDK about some of those (as in I literally don't know), but the Gaga situation of her being made to do things she doesn't want to has been more or less the reason why ARTPOP has been such a blip on the pop-culture radar. Even if Lily's releases have been meh, nothing to be ashamed of.

I really can't stand these artists always whining about what their label won't let them do. Columbia told Beyoncé to not release Crazy in Love as her lead single and that the album wouldn't be successful. It spawned 4 top 5 hits, went 4x platinum. CIL became her signature song and one of the most classic from the decade. Instead of complaining about what you're forced to do, do what you want to do and prove them old ass suits wrong.
