Gaga's main inspiration was not Madonna, it was Gwen. It was obvious not just because of the blatant imagery (from Gwen's bob cut + dark glasses look to Paparazzi being a It's My Life rip off) but also because she never ever spoke about Gwen or mentioned her as an influence. That's how you tell who pop stars are trying to imitate: they will never mention that person and instead say someone else to divert attention.
Poor Yves LaRock, this would have been a #1 in the US if they had been into house music at the time, especially because it still has that reggae/dancehall vibe that was big in the States in the mid aughts
