I don't think she lacks the spark/passion/energy now, but I do think she lacks the drive to carry on playing the game after she won so hard before.
I suspect she got a hefty dose of reality with ARTPOP. Not only with the underperformance, but i bet she will have gotten very competitive with Katy and Beyonce doing so well.
We thought she'd have gotten that with BTW, but in reality that was a huge success...so it'd be easy to be complacent ("Everyone's saying I flopped because of x, y and z...but the millions of sales and massive tour say otherwise. Looks like I can do what I want.").

Yup.
I do appreciate though that it's not as easy as just ditching the BTW message etc. because it's such a huge part of her act. It'd be disingenuous if nothing else. She should phase it out so it's only preached when relevant.

She's trying to relate to her internet savvy fans. Referencing that she 'gets' it is fine, and maybe doing an AMA would be good, but she's carrying on like the human personification of Buzzfeed (late and misusing memes).
I guess we're ignoring SWINEFESt, artRave, AMAs, Jingle Bell Ball, and the Japan performances. She's not underperforming because of her performances, she's underperforming because she's coming off an era that people didn't care for and she's not promoting. You can't seriously watch her AMA performance and think her energy and passion is gone when she killed the choreo and sounded amazing. I'll never understand this fanbase's penchant for ignoring the good things that happen in order to praise the things that have happened in the past.
sure, we haven't gotten as many performances as with Born This Way but then few we've had have been moderately good or excellent, the only bad one was X Factor UK and even that wasn't terrible. This era is just a mess, but if we overlook the lack of performances then it's not that bad.
