But its not a popular MAINSTREAM genre. You don't see country songs flying up pop radio or the Hot 100 every week with the exception of of course Carrie and as of lately Taylor Swift, but those are bare chances at best.
Now of course they're popular on their own charts, but I wouldn't call this move a sellout. Thats more for those who completely bomb with an album, then change their sound to something that's current in mainstream appeal, and country definitely ain't a current mainstream sound as it once was.
