She was still putting together the idea for ARTPOP in her head, and what we have now was all Gaga's decision - the "original" ARTPOP will end up looking a lot like Act II in terms of themes and content).
Troy, on the other hand, became more controlling and divisive as time went on. My guess would be after the BTW era ended on relatively messy terms, Troy did not want to let that happen again, and felt he had to control Gaga's vision in order to make it successful. In the end, however, his control over her derided any vision for the era she had. Choosing Applause as the first single and rush-releasing it when it started leaking killed every plan she had for the era. As I mentioned before, choosing DWUW over Venus was Troy's decision, but Gaga ultimately went with it because she planned on firing Troy and thought it would still hold up well with a half-assed marketing plan. Basically, Troy was in it for the money, and although he probably had good intentions in wanting to make Gaga as popular again as possible, he wasn't making the right decisions, and he was limiting Gaga's creative potential and forcing her to do an era she didn't want to do at the same time.
I hope this makes sense. I'm just really glad Gaga is free to do what she wants again, because at least in my book, that's when Gaga is at her best.

I get what your saying but releasing applause one week earlier didnt hurt anything for applause, a better peak was all it would have gotten if it was scheduled for the original date. Gaga + Interscope hired a team to help Gaga appeal to as many people as possible and get her message across. As of right now since the album release we have yet to see anything "ARTPOP" in Gaga as my point of view. If troy was in it for the money and not Gaga than something probably happened between them too together but we will never know that ! Troy helped shape Gaga's career as we all know it today so no one should discredit him but thank him. From the Subway btw design to the taxes to even the amazon 99 deal, it struck headlines for Gaga! Gaga has this new team by her but i have yet seen them do anything for her expect stand behind her ! In my honest opinion Gaga should just manage herself because i feel shes into her "Art" and only she would know what to do with it.

That's not true at all. She wanted BTW as the first single and Judas as the second. As far as TEOG becoming the third single, that could be another example of Troy/Interscope whispering in Gaga's ear "look how successful this is, let's make it a single immediately." Just like DWUW. But she also wanted Y&I and MTN.

BTW singles were Interscope's choice. Gaga wanted BTW->MTN->Scheisse->TEOG

Marry The Night and The Edge of Glory were robbed. I mean, I am so happy that we have that flawless Judas video but if we got the right Edge video.. where would be be.. we could have had it all. If only Born This Way was the first visual album.

I COMPLETELY agree with you. I don't think rush-releasing Applause hurt her at all, but in the end, she didn't want Applause. And on top of that, she put her heart and dedication into creating a huge VMA performance for it, and MTV shot it down. So it's understandable why after that, her heart wasn't really in this era like it should've been. And you're absolutely right, we shouldn't discredit Troy at all. This is exactly why Gaga will never speak out specifically against Troy or tell the full story of what happened. He created her; he made her popular; what he did with Gaga he will never be able to do again - no one will be able to create an image and brand this big ever again.
I also agree that the team she surrounds herself with is lacking in creativity. There's no Dada, not even a Boomkack. But we have yet to see what Gaga is capable of. I'm just really excited to see what she has up her sleeve.

Well, it's not like I have any other choice. I'm not the jumping ship type. I'll stick around, but let's be real here - this is a mess whats going.

No way. Gaga says a lot of things. She said she wanted to end the era with TEOG, she said she wanted MTN as the lead, yada yada yada. When it came down to actually making a choice, she chose what she did (perhaps sans TEOG, since that was a spur of the moment thing, and probably the best choice of the entire era).

MTN is my favorite track of that album now but back then it didn't sound like a hit to me. Too boring and monotonous to smash. I remember wanting Scheiße instead

Thinking about it, BTW, Marry the Night, Scheisse and TEOG would have destroyed careers, families and governments. They would have had longer campaigns too so the era could have lasted as long as the actual BTW did anyway.

At least we're complaining about the BTW era and not the ARTPOP era for once
I miss those days thinking ARTPOP would save us from complaining about everything

Of course they give her great input and they push for certain songs, but she makes the decisions - Alejandro over DITD is the perfect sample, Bad Romance over BBB is another. When it came down to choosing the singles, she chose BTW as the lead, and she also chose/agreed with Judas, (I'm assuming TEOG, although this is probably the best example of Interscope saying "this is what I want" and Gaga agreeing after the Judas fiasco), Yuyi, and MTN. It's great that she feels she can say "oh yeah, I wanted Scheisse as a single" after it's all said and done, but this is meaningless to what she actually chose.
